It is only right and fitting to acknowledge Spidey being top poster.

Before him it was Chris and before Chris it was GettingFaster, before GettingFaster it was Chris again and before Chris it was Bazzaroodoo :p

Well done Spidey, time to get a life now. ;)

Maybe if I post one hundred times a day or so, I won't be left off lists of members so much.

How many posts do you have on the Question Game Thread - which is probably the most posted and liked thead here?

My money is on Juicy for the next leader.

Stevie might be coming up from behind unlike his fantasy team.

Others here thought bad of me posting my thoughts and were never going to post again in protest - but are back I see. Obviously finding this forum as much fun and enlightenment as it is meant to be.

I got close to Chris and slowed down as I did not want to overtake the Boss, I thought he may wipe out a 1000 posts or something.

Which is possibly a reason for Chris's drop in posts,he doesn't have to keep getting involved with Squabbles on here these day's.keep it up Spidey.(posting,i mean before the double enwhatya call em kicks in).

haha, i cant argue with that!

I still think its a swimmy forum with swimmy people. We are all involved in swimming are we not?

Now you just have swimmy posters who like a bit of a lark as well as serious swimming discussion.

Wheres the harm?

What about people who have obsessions in looking up stats? There has been quite some talk of this recently. One post, from whom I can not recall listed about 10 people and their averages. Now that is a geek.

Talking of stats:
For five years 1994-98 inclusive, I plotted on a graph my meterage swam each session, and noted the time achieved each time I swam a competitive 100m Free to see how the training leading up to it effected it. When the PC crashed, and having no back up, I lost it all.

Your going to hate me today mr 4. I have done 6 posts already :zip:

still, it seems to me that this is a gripe/swipe. Im sorry that the forum is not the way it used to be, and your probably suggesting that i am responsible.

I exhausted myself from swimming questions when i started. Unfortunately now i know everything and am left with posting drivel.

I dont really know that much about your world or swimming, im new to it (despite knowing everything now).

I sit behind a PC all day at work, and not really being a geek am not a member or any other groups and find no interest in any other part of the internet. I log on, look at swimclub, check my email and logoff.

So if this was a subtle shot at making me feel guilty, it worked. lll try to ease off (but i cant promise cos work is SO boring!)

I am not a shy person, and found it quite easy to post lots and lots, without feeling intimidated, I assume others are the same, while some are less so and can take a little longer to post. So I talk a lot, so I write a lot, in my view that's that's the point of joining in conversations, and joining forums, while others like to listen and read, not sure what your point is, other than you are one type and I am the other, and some people like a bit of the other, do you?

Where are the real swimming people? why arent they stepping up? The forum is still populated with swimmy people mate, its has just developed a sense of fun. It's fair to say that there is a much wider mix on here these days than years ago, some of whom are devoted swimming folks (like your good self) and others who have a mild passing interest in it. That's inevitable progress though. For 2.0mps's information, I don't object to the off-topic forum at all, there is a place for that here and it's okay for anyone to post in it. The problem for me is the excessively high (IMHO) volume of posts that have nothing to do with swimming on a swimming forum, and the high proportion of these which are meaningless drivel. Again though, I suppose it's all inevitable evolution of the site and I just have to get on with it. I still love the site, but when in yesteryear I would read every post on every thread, now I'm down to about 5-10% at a guess. As noted in the past, there are certain individuals who are largely responsible for 'lowering the tone' of the site but rest assured Stevie, you're not one of them. I agree totally that there is a lot of light entertainment on here but I think that is a by-product of the forum's success. As with any internet forum that has been established for a while there are only so many 'serious' topics that you can cover - most new posts re concerns about little Johnnie, any aspect of technique, the low/high volume debate, dodgy coaches, drugs etc are well covered in previous threads. For example you and I have had some great scraps in the past but there is little point in repeating them. I would note though that everybody knuckles down a bit when we all have something to get our teeth into like the LZR suits.

It's all in the wiggle. And entering correctly and smoothly. If you push down too hard it can be painful and tiring. And most importantly, remember to bend your knees.

This is good advice, Bully.

I think Spidey would be a good coach for you if you want to swim butterfly. Remember, Y 200 FLY?

And he could help you with your backstroke. Don't let it worry you too much when he looks you in the eye and suggests you enter with your little finger first.

Stevie_k

What about if we said spidey will get on top of you UNLESS you do 200 fly.

I think thats fair motivation!

I dont think it was really. Nothing to do with swimming really, it was more of a statement. Might as well let the funsters have it. Somewhere to scribble their pointless drivel.

I dont know why im using the word "their". "our" would probably have been more relevent

You're wrong again, in using the past tense makes it seem this thread was all over, obviously it wasn't, however, if you'd said this is ending in drivel again, then that would be wrong also. But this is obviously only my opinion, which is far more important to me than yours (IMHO).

....but then if you don't recognise it as drivel you won't worry anyway....

You can't have a swimming family without 'drivel' - it's a necessary part of everyday living. This forum achieves a lot: take a look at the Help for Heroes thread, for example - we've been part of the publicity and giving that's ultimately persuaded the MOD to do what it should have done all along.

And the plans for the 24 hour swim

And the help and advice for people logging on when they've been out of swimming for some years

You may laugh, but full bb's are no laughing matter, ask any male (over 13).

There was a murder case in America once, where the accused changed his plea to full bb's and got a reduced sentance.

Also responsible for more violent crime and road rage than heroin.

If you dont believe me, google it!

http://www.swimclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=5798&highlight=wipe&page=6It is difficult to see what you are on about from that link Juicy but you know what, the thing that gets me about your post and the link is - why did you search for "wipe"? What were you looking for?

If you want to link to a post within a thread then you need to add a little reference to the post number after the thread number - thus on this occasion add "&postcount=79" (http://www.swimclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=67114&postcount=79) & if you don't want everyone to know what you have been searching for then wipe the "&highlight=porn" or whatever it was that you just happened to be searching for from your link. ;)

So what happened in post number 79?Thread was closed for being pointless not deleted. No posts at all deleted. I never mentioned closing. Chris reopened it - as was his right. I am confused. Why did I post this (http://www.swimclub.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=68098&postcount=161) at the end of a thread full of abuse. The abusive posts did stop, so perhaps I meant to lighten the situation. I did not mention swimming however, but the thread was entitled "Sponsored Banning".

We all thought you were in a world of your own, Spidey. Your post had nothing at all to do with the thread, and gave it the kiss of death. Probably a good thing, too.

Those days have now gone and I would think Chris the Boss is pretty pleased with the way the forum is progressing.

The whole debate will never ever lead to anything good, thats a fact. Forums evolve, people evolve (except me, i have monkey long arms and monkey intelligence), but everybody else does.

You cannot tell people what to post and not what to post you CANNOT! you CAN asks for common decency when asking people not to litter important threads with banter, but i think we all mindfull not to do this to a degree.

Some love the fun banter on this forum. Thats a FACT. Some love the serious swimming natured threads and not the banter. Thats a a FACT.

Sure the forum is big enough to accomodate all of us.

Causing unrest by moaning about it is completely futile!

Take care of yourselves.....and each other :)

ps i forgot to say the word "swimming", now that i have it validated my post technically i think you will find! :p

At first I thought it was a typo as Stevie is always going on about his pb's. I thought he may have been tired from one of early morning trips to his far away swimming pool that was closed - he mentions that a bit. When I saw the explanation - uck!.
