So the trials for the European short course happen soon. WIll they be an anti-climax after the games or will we bring back loads of medals?
Is any-one going to qualify through the junior policy other than those who are already established GB members (Proud, Heywood etc)
WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK?

I'm really looking forward to the trials as they're at my home pool! It will be interesting to see the standard given that the commie games were only 6 weeks ago.

As for junior selection, that will be interesting as well, Stephanie Proud won;t get to go (too young - see below) but it is good again to see an attempt to give younger swimmers international experience early, even if the policy effectively prevents a swimmer like Zoe Baker, who does not compete in an Olympic event, from being selected, which is ridiculous.

My top tip for swimmers coming though on the junior criteria would be Ross Davenport, but he'll have to swim 50.03 to do it. I would imagine that Kate Haywood will have a great chance of making it through on the senior criteria.

full selection policy: http://www.britishswimming.org/sports/swimming/escselectionpolicy_revmay02.pdf

The second available team place will be given to - Boys born 1984/85 and Girls born 1986/87, provided
that the time recorded in the final is equal to or faster than the B Qualifying Time as set out in the table
below. (LEN imposes a minimum age for competitors in its events: Boys 17 years and Girls 15 years of
age in the year of competition).

AHA! But I happen to know that Ross Davenport and Kate Haywood, along with a few others, are off on the world cup tour which takes place in november/december 2002. So maybe lesser known swimmers might make it. I hope!!!! :( I reckon Joanne Jackson could make at least three of those times. I'm looking forward to the short course champs too! What's the pool like?

Well I reckon that if your even thinking you might be near making this team, you should share your surname with us so we can watch your progress with interest. Good Luck!!

Steve, since I'm local to Cambridge, I'm thinking of going along to watch on at least one day. Is there any need to book a ticket or will it be OK just to turn up?

Katie, you asked what the pool's like. Its excellent. The best one in this area by a long way. I've only swum two races there but got big PBs both times. Hope you do the same. Good luck!

Should be OK to just turn up, but as you know, at Parkside there aren't loads of seats, so get there early!

AFAIK tickets are £3 per session, session times are 8am w/u 9am start and 3pm w/u, 4pm start.

My surname's Wyld. I will be trying very hard but 2.02.9 is a very tough time to get for 200 free! But I will most certainly be going for it! :(

AGH! Whoops. Never mind. The times were pretty bad but I'm pleased to have made a final! The pool was so nice! And so was cambridge in general. I think the swim of the meet that I saw was definitely Dave Davies's 1500 free it was brilliant! I noticed Amy Konowalik of Nova made the 200 breastroke B time for the European SC which was brilliant! The only bad thing I'd say is that there wasn't really enough space for all the swimmers to sit, but apart from that it was a really good meet.
