Harlow Penguins recently bought the Hy-Tek software for its successful Open meet in September. However some of the constructive criticsm we received was that the entry cards could have been a lot clearer:-

1) From the coaches point of view the cards should have included warm up times - (I am still not sure how to do that)

2) From the swimmers point of view they would have liked to have seen their ranking on the cards (point accepted - this can be done but I choose not to do it - is it really important? Having never swam competitively I have no idea)

3) From the officals point of view they wanted part of the card reserved for them to "place" swimmers - (not sure how to do this)

In summary everybody is comfortable and familar with the common Sportssytem cards and were expecting more of the same. I, however, used what reports were available (not consistent with the Sportssytem cards) and ended up cutting almost 2000 pieces of coloured card with what I thought was the most important information on it. Does anybody have any useful ideas? is there a Hy-Tek user group or web site other than the official one? I have tried calling the UK distributor (Sportstek) but to no avail.

yeh its really useful to have the ranking on the cards (from a swimmers point of view here.) i always like to kno what ranking i am going into the ocmpetition and it provides a record after the comp to see how much you can improve - also u can compare with your friends beforehand to see if you are next to anyone

The thing I never understood about the aforementioned ranking system was that because the slowest competitor is #1 and the fastest is competitor say #50, you never knew how far down you were and hence your chances of say making a final or winning or whatever. Not that it really matters...:)

Try contacting St Pauls swim school - ggarvey@iol.ie

They have been using Hy_tek for a number of years.

Although that doesn't work now as loads of galas use cyclical seeding method! I don't really mind who I'm next to... unless it ends up like the Manchester Grand Prix: Event 1, heat 1, Lane 3: Me, Lane 4: Karen Pickering, Lane 5: Georgina Lee. NO prizes for guessing who came last in that one!!

If you wanna be the best you're gonna have to beat these girls one day Kathryn so why not make that the next time rather than defeating yourself before you dive in?

You're so right about that race! I talked myself out of it before I'd even started!
