Tinie, always ignore that type of person, if you have a dream and think it is attainable don't let anybody get in your way! The other girl seems to have won the mind game but what are you like in the pool?

At 10 there is no way of knowing if you will ever swim for Britain because you are too young. Swimmers peak at different times, the fastest swimmers in my age group when I was 10 no longer swim anymore. When you swim turn that hurt into aggression and think how good it will be when you make the GB team and send that girl a signed photo of yourself. People will always try and stand in the way of your dreams, thats life.
Tinie: there is a girl in my club and she is just the same she made me so down and whenever i raced her she would always say to me before we got on the block you better let me win and i always did until one day i worked out she was jelous and i stood up to her and now i always beet her so dont listen to the poop that she is telling you because im sure whatever you put your mind to you can do it.

There was a girl in my club like that. We were really close with our times in every event, in most 100/200m events we were only milliseconds apart. And every time she won she rubbed it in so much, telling me how rubbish i was and that i'd never be able to beat her. I talked to my best friend in the club and she said i should just ignore her and be the best i could be. So that's exactly what i did. Now, 2 years later, i've realised that her putting me down didn't make me any worse or make me try less it just made me want to give all i had in every training session and race so that i could show her how good i really am.

We did this relaxation thing at school. It taught us to put a coating round the outside of our body so when someone said something negative it bounced straight off us and we ignored it.
Also if you tell yourself you cannot do something your body will accept you can't and you will never do it. Now before a race i always think positively and it works for me. Good luck.

Careful, though. I can think of at least one football message board that's a shadow of its former self because a few younger members got a bit carried away and started posting left, right and centre just to boost their number of messages, but drove away a lot of older people.
