Bad, I've been slacking in training and it showed. The one short race I did (50 breast) was OK, but all the other events were the long ones and I just wasn't fit enough.

I couldn't seem to get the hang of turning on that boom. I found it too dark to pick up when swimming. As a result I hashed up virtually every turn - technically the worst weekend of swimming I can remember.:(Other than that it was OK I suppose I enjoyed it but like Adam need to do a bit more training before I'll be at my best.

What actually happened:

100 f/c - 57.72 :) :D :rainbow:  :joker:
Nowhere near - hadn't trained for it tho' - in any case the current holder improved it by a further 11s! Did improve my best by 6 seconds however
3PB's from 5 swims - those above and 100IM :)

I had a great weekend, really enjoyed d the atmosphere and the competition, apart from arriving at 1715 on Friday and not swimming the 100 free until 2140

As for the boom - I had the same problems last year Baz - in the first warmup I got really confused by the fact that you can see under the boom into the other pool and, swimming along following the line, swam head first into the boom - embarrassing, and painful! The boom just appears closer than it actually is for some strange reason!

it was a great weekend! Such a good meet - you know its a good meet when you swim bad but have a great time!!!

My hubby got 4 pb's out of four races. He swam his socks off! He went under 1.10 for the 100im (obviously the advice from the 'master of medleys' helped!!!!)

1. Highlights for me was Jo (Swatton) and Tony Corban (back and fly)
2. Sandy Galletley was super!
3. Seeing hubby in his new shorts in the 50 back!!!! Corrrrr!!!!!!

Did you see the sun shinning? That has never happenned to me at Sheffield for Nationals!

Not bad after a terrible start!

My plane was delayed leaving the island causing me to miss the Friday evening session and my first two races. Saturday morning was OK, there or there abouts for the 50 free and 10 breast. My team mates picked up 4 medals between them making a good end to the day. Sunday I did a pb in 200 breast, albeit only 3 hundredths but hey, they all count don't they. This time meant I picked up my first ever medal, a bronze.

End of a great weekend!

I'm pleased you all did so well. Did you manage to meet up with each other over the weekend?

I really enjoyed it other than as others experienced - an awful start! It took us 8 1/2hrs to get up there and i missed my 100m free :-(
However the rest of my swims were a lot faster than i expected! Especially my 200m IM nearly 2sec pb so close to 200m free(thanks Julie!)..
My 50m and 200m free were virtually on my lifetime bests and alot fatser than I swam last year (with glandular fever!)
Had I got a chance to swim the 100m I am sure I would have met my aim of 57, unfortunately they wouldn't let me swim a time trial as a first 100m of the 800m/400m :-(
My only other complaint is my British Records on the Sunday didn't get presented!!
However, I think I am finally making the comeback I never thought I would have after last year!
Well done to everyone else who was there!
