I have decided I want to move to London. However, I don't know how to get over there, legally. I am obviously American so that poses some problem with Immigration. I am college educated. But I don't know where to start (finding a job that will sponsor my visa; finding a place to live, etc). Any thoughts?

For starters, try the Home Office's immigration advice page at http://194.203.40.90/ (don't know why it comes up only with numbers - I traced it through Yahoo.)

Hi, look at my government! I have a Texan and his friends leading the country. Who wouldn't want to escape the US?

If you don't like Bush or Blair there is an ideal opportunity to air your view and do something about it. They are both due for re-election in the not to distant future, VOTE THEM OUT! its called democracy.
As a point of note Saddam Hussein cannot be Voted out but his version of democracy with regard to any oppsition is WIPE THEM OUT! now that is tyranny.
Sorry to get political, back to the water for me.

what kind of job are you going to be looking for? Why don't you look on the net for some company websites and see if they are recruiting people with your area of expertise. If you liaise with them they may be able to help get you over here and if you have a job lined up it will help your immigration case. It usually takes quite a while to go through all the official stuff, I know someone trying to emmigrate to canada and that took nearly a year to sort out!
If you have teaching or nursing qualifications there are loads of jobs but the pay is not great.

What do you mean, the pay is not that great Pete?
Considering they both require graduate training; teaching qualifications take 4 years. Salary is below that of private industry graduates.
