See that British Swimming have finally announced the team (http://www.swimming.org/britishswimming/news/swimming/britains-swimmers-selected-for-european-championships/4821/) for Budapest, some 8 weeks after the trials used for selection!
The report provides an interesting change of tack for British Swimming as well with no acknowledgment whatsoever to the Clubs and teams supporting these swimmers if they are training abroad and none to a swimmer's home Club if they are at an ITC. This is despite Michael Scott saying in 2009 - What recognition will British Swimming provide to the Club and Coach if one of their swimmers moves to an ITC?
It is vital that British Swimming acknowledge the significant contribution the home coach and club have made in a swimmer’s development prior to their move to the ITC.
As such, a system of dual recognition/branding will be introduced. For example Sally Jones moving to the Bath ITC from Liverpool and choosing not to swim for Bath University would be listed in event programmes as “Sally Jones-City of Liverpool/Bath ITC”.
Where swimmers have trained in their home club programme for at least 18 months prior to transferring to the ITC:
• Their home clubs will continue to score Podium & Development club funding points for that swimmer for 2 years (this does not apply to Offshore Centre or USA based swimmers).
• Their home coach will be prioritised for World Class Programme CPD opportunities in the event that the swimmer excels at major benchmark meets.
Maybe they are still doing the bulleted points but they are totally failing to "acknowledge the significant contribution the home coach and club have made" in their press reports, presumably because acknowledging British Gas is more important.

Money makes the world go round... and pays a few salaries too.
How long would you like acknowledgement for, Linny - tis really difficult. Maybe let the swimmer decide!

In the future there will be no swimming clubs, no ITC's, no ASA/SASA/WASA, no British Swimming, only BRITISH GAS. All swimmers will be members of British Gas, and compete for British Gas both domestically and internationally.

Is the crucial bit what I have underlined below?
For example Sally Jones moving to the Bath ITC from Liverpool and choosing not to swim for Bath University would be listed in event programmes as “Sally Jones-City of Liverpool/Bath ITC”
So the dual branding is dependent on the swimmer's choice. Have any of the swimmers made the choice that ought to result in "dual branding"?

Compare the Europeans' report to this (http://www.swimming.org/britishswimming/news/commonwealth-games-2010/adlington-tancock-and-spofforth-named-for-commonwealth-games/4234) which is how the selections for Team England in Delhi were announced not that long ago. You will see that the Clubs for the swimmers are recorded quite differently and I was simply making an observation about the change, not personally seeking aknowledgment for anything or anyone. It was British Swimming through Michael Scott that said that acknowledgment for the Clubs that the swimmers belong to when they train with ITCs was necessary, and swimmers at ITCs do choose which Clubs they belong to and they can either retain membership of the Club they were at before they started at the ITC or they can become members of the Club that is at the ITC venue, it is up to them. Either should be acknoweldged; ITCs are not Clubs and swimmers are not members of them as such.
Let's face it, someone must think that it is worth mentioning our swimmers' Clubs/teams/training venues or they wouldn't be in the report at all and if we accept that then ultimately, I guess it depends then on why we think that they are worth mentioning and what these press reports are for. In my opinion, they should not be solely for the purpose of British Swimming spin (no mention of anyone training abroad despite the fact that they do) and to advertise British Gas. Swimmers' Clubs/teams/training venues are/were/should be accurately acknowledged publicly to inform anyone who is involved with or interested in swimming and for the benefit of those Clubs/teams/training venues the swimmers come from because they benefit from the accompanying publicity with their members and in their communities.

Of course, if they did acknowledge the likes of Jemma, Gemma, Ellen, Simon, Adam and Kris train abroard it may give the impression to younger swimmers that there is an alternative to BRITISH GAS ITCs.
