Am considering persuading the club to buy Hy-Tek Team and Meet Manager but would first like to know opinions on these products from anyone who uses them just now or has done so in the past? I really don't know a great deal about them at all so any information any of you could provide would be most grateful.

We've used both for the last 2 or 3 years and they're great. Very user-friendly, regularly updated and improved.

They embarass the Sportsystem software making it look primitive.

I take it you've looked at the website:

Lane 4 - I whole heartedly recommend Hy Teks Open Meet.

Try the demo software which can be ordered via the web and delivered within a working week. The UK distributor is SportsTek (website same name) - friendly people at their small office - I believe they run Cambridge National Short Course championships last summer or whatever that meet is called.

The actual software costs about £250 (from memory) and since we purchased it - it has been upgraded via the internet for free at least 4 times. The upgrades are tweaks\bug fixes as requested by user.

I have been to several Open Meets where this software has been used apart from by us (Harlow Penguins)

Wycombe Classic Long Course used it a few weeks ago. They really have mastered the software ensuring accurate entry card printing, spearheading during races, full MIS, electronic scoring linked to MIS etc etc. The software also prints programmes and allows entries from other Hy Tek users via the interent (never used this)

I am sure Hitchin swimming Club used it during their Open meet last summer. They also have mastered the software and did NOT send out entry cards but asked swimmers to sign in at their meet (which i was very impressed with).

My "concern" is that it is an American\Canadian based software solution so therefore offers a lot of options that UK meets will never use. Also if you are only an interested parent (like me) and have never swam competitively then some of the terms are bewildering and the extensive help menu does not clarify the issue. For example I was completely mystified by "circle seeding" but now use that when running our Club Championships.

Finally to this long winded message there is no Help forum or messageboard which would be extremely helpful. I have scratched around to find other users to help me out.

Hy-Tek software is great. Even if the software is based in America, they are greatly interested in making it a worldwide software. Just contact their sales department with your ideas for what would work better in your neck of the woods and you might just see it in a future release.

A bit late but im new to this.
Just to let you know it was Hatfield SCs meet 'UK Challenge' and not Hitchin. We have used Meet Manager from when it was DOS based and switched to windows version in 1999. It has come on a long way since then and is still getting better. Any queries I have had have all been corrected without any fuss. Glad to see lots more clubs now using it.
