This is not the place for sounding off about people you do not like. Please don't start degrading a really good discussion forum site. With so many people using sign in names which are not their own names, you do not know who you might be offending. We have a great rapport amongst each other here. I would like to keep it that way. If you have a probem of personality clash with someone at your club, keep it to your club please.

I don't think tinie ment it like that pete, i wouldn't post names anyway i just posted the groups of people
I agree to the most part DangerMouse :) but other people might use the thread in the wrong way as we have noticed recently with other threads. People have almost destroyed a similar US based site by rude and personal posting :( . If everyone keeps to positive and light-hearted posts that is fine.

Am I the only one who suspects we may have another character from a well-known story by the Brothers Grimm using the site? A number of recent posts on potentially contentious topics have the ring of an adult pretending to be a child.

ie not to slag them off itsd just to talk bout ur club and what it is like. is there peolpe like that not to mention names
There are so always a few people who irratate me in my club sometimes (i'm sure bootie, chris and I could agree on one particular person) and I can't talk to people in the club just incase it gets back to that person, by posting the small problems I have with people here I can see whether I am being harsh and what to do about it. I'm sure any obscene posts will be edited and as long as names aren't mentioned it could benefit people by getting things off their chests. I don't want to slag people off but when you spend long time periods with people your bound to get irretated

My club recently got split into two big groups because of one argument including two of the more 'popular' girls in the club and a guy that they both fancied. Luckily my coach sorted it all out tonight by being a Relationship Advisor, a Councillor and an Agony Aunt to both of the girls!

Its difficult isn't it. Maybe there is an important lesson we can all learn from this? Something along the lines of not being too hasty to judge other people.
I inherently agree with the idea that if swimmers post their frustrations, they can get other people's ideas on board. Thats important. What isn't nice to see is an entire thread which seems determined to point out people's weak points. Actually to be honest I think the biggest problems we have had have been with the adult membership. Kids come out with things, we need to set them an example by not resorting to nasty belittling campaigns.
Its nice to be positive, but its not realistic all the time.
I think forum moderators also need to remember that they are here to enforce forum rules, without imposing their own opinions, attitudes or versions of morality. We all need to remember that we are not necessarily going to like what we read some of the time. What needs keeping an eye on, is the misuse of the forum for the purposes of vicitmisation, which I guess this strays a bit too close to.
A forum that has no room for dissent is a forum without a soul surely? If we know what other people are thinking and saying and can steer the thinking a little, perhaps we can play a really positive role in the swimming community?

The great thing about being human is that we are all free to choose how we respond to all the events and incidents that happen in our lives. We decide how they affect us.
I'm very sorry about all the bad things you have gone through tinie but I'm afraid that being negative is a choice you have made.

No, being negative is often not a choice.
Do we assume that the jews who made it through the holocaust are negative because they chose to be. Do we assume that people who are being abused at home are unhappy because they choose to be? Do we expect the Iraqui people to feel happy about being bombed?
Saying that our attitude is up to us seems like an excuse to treat people however we like, and blame them for their reaction. That isn't right.
How we choose to deal with things can be up to us, though speaking as someone who has suffered from extremely bad depression, that isn't always the case either. Unless of course you would like to suggest that my depression was my own fault. Which would only really reveal a dreadful, appalling level of ignorance....
Oh dear. Too Deep for most.

i dont get it.
everyday in school teachers/counselors/blahblahblah say that your attitude IS up to you, and how you react to incidences IS up to you.
ktcute, are you saying that you blame others for every reaction and feeling you have towards every event?
im sorry, i dont mean to sound attacky or anything ;] iss just that your post up there just went against EVERYTHING i've ever been told in my life!

I think that some reactions are your choice and others are not. For example, if someone says hello to you you can choose if you're going to say hello back to them or tell them to get lost but if someone came up to you and said that your best friend had just died in a car accident you wouldn't have much of a choice, you'd probably be very upset. But sometimes you get into a negative, depressive pattern and you seriously have no choice but to answer questions in a negative way. On the other hand, some people get on positive highs and react to everything very positively and happily.

..... because you gave up too easily?
We can choose to put a positive spin on everything or a negative one, the same as some famous people let it go to their heads while others manage to keep their feet on the ground, and people who suddenly have alot of money at their disposal can choose to carry on as if nothings changed or blow it all on a luxurious lifestyle only to fall back down to earth with a bump 'fifteen minutes' later (Richard Blackwood).
As the saying goes, it's a free country!
