I believe there is a plan to build a new one at the Spytty Park sports complex - home of Newport County, one of the loves of my life - but it will take a year or two. (The thing going up currently is the national velodrome.)
This is into Cardiff really and maybe out of range, but if you go about a mile past St Mellons on the old main road between the two cities, there's a leisure centre with a pool at Rumney, among playing fields on the right hand side. No idea what it's like, but my Mum has been there with a pensioner group so I suppose it can't be too bad.
have just been to bannatynes in newport (opened in the new year near the BMW dealer), 20m pool and nice facilities but not cheap...have yet to visit the place in cwmbran that uesd to be clubindigo...but will let you know as and when...
