This doesn't bode well......

"Thousands of people who bought tickets to see synchronised swimming at London 2012 have been asked to return them, after the organisers discovered that they had sold too many"

However looks like they will get the pick of the 1 million tickets held back for all events!
So disappointment on one level but hello opening ceremony on another!

I agree wouldn't mind being oversold a ticket for that reward!

I hope that those who really want to watch the synchronised swimming (i.e.parents) will still get the opportunity to do so...SF

This is what I call gross incompetence! Can't these people even do basic mathematics?

So now they say that the people in possession of the tickets for non-existent seats won't be forced to give them up....but what happens if not enough people want to swap for another event? Are they going to bring in more seats?

I guess they're relying on the idea that the number of hard core synchro fans coming to London just for that event is relatively small, and a lot of those people with ghost tickets would be happy enough swapping for rhythmic gymnastics or team handball for their Olympic experience, as long as it fits their holiday schedule.

Surely you mean a NIGHTMARE !!!

No I mean mare - a lady horse with poor or unruly temperment aka normal, as opposed to nightmare which is just a dream and won't come true. This has come true alas and to be fair to locog it is an extraordinarily complex issue that is glibly oversimplified by the press and other would be locog knockers.

It will only cease to be a NIGHTMARE to me when I have actually got the tickets in my hand and I am inside the swimming pool watching the championships...roll on that day!
