From www.scottishswimming.com :

'sportscotland in partnership with Scottish Swimming are pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Jones (former coach to City of Edinburgh) as the sport’s new Performance Manager.'

Thats all, no secret.

So does that mean that some of our esteemed forum members will be after Mr Jones' old job then?

The ROCK

I wonder if it will mean a big name appointment to replace him or if one of my local collegues will grab their chance to ascend?

Any thoughts?

What big names do you think might be interested or targeted Rock?

The ROCK

I dont know. I guess it would prove a difficult move for most big names being a year from olympics. My instinct says someone with olympic standard athletes and a short course pool.

I'm not adverse however to the prospect of the helm being taken by someone close to the post, allowing everyone else to take a step up. That, in fact would suit me particularly well.

Whish do you foresee as being most likely Mr 4?

I can see arguments for both and thus its a hard call and I can't really decide which one they will go for.

Bear in mind that nobody has made the Olympic team yet.

The ROCK

indeed.

thats why i feel coaches with a couple of olympic hopefuls based in a short course programme would consider throwing their hats in the ring (if their top swimmers would come with them of course).

has there been any indication of timescale?
when does tim commence in his new job?
anyone know?

A quick check of the Scottish Swimming website would have given you the starting date Rock! I thought you would have known this given that you are at the hub of Scottish Swimming every day.

Close, but no cigar.
My proximity to the hub is occasional.
The periphery is where I prefer to conduct my affairs.

I merely thought that someone like yourself would posses access to information such as the likely timescale for recruitment in Edinburgh.

Good luck.

Sorry, I thought your job was more important than that.

Do you have the required experience? And, given that you prefer to conduct your affairs on the periphery (and you're right, Scottish uni swimming is on the periphery), there's no point you scavenging for a central role.

Ow!! Sounds like the Rock is getting a beating in the central belt.... I am sure we will all benefit from TJ's new role.

Am I a scavenger then Mr Rcok sir??

no lambo, your not a scavenger, and neither am I.

mr 4 - i neither have the experience nor the interest, i was having a wee game of stirring the pot and seeing how long i could last without getting sprung. Some concerted efforts to through you off the scent were thrown in there.

A most entertaining experience it has been, it seems however you've rooted me out and now honesty must prevail in my posts over the desire to excite and to provoke!!

Congratulations, and once again - good luck.

I think we may find that Mr Jones 'old' job is still actually his 'current' job and will be for some months yet. It's just that he has a 'new' job as well.

Not sure if you are meant to revive old threads as this is my first, but does anyone yet know who will be taking over as Head Coach at Edinburgh and when?

Perhaps the Rock will know? However, he has been very quiet on here of late.

I have heard that Edinburgh will be re-advertising the job soon.
