As an Englishman living in Scotland (like Lane 4) I never cease to be amazed at the passion with which the Scots wish England to fail in sporting events and continually go on about irrelevant results (1-0 win at Wembley in Euro play offs and - before last nights dreadful capitulation - the oh so brave victory against the Dutch who were clearly just using the Hampden game as light training before the proper game).
The English tend not to crow so much about Scotland's 'pathetic losses' because they - like everyone else including the Scots - have come to accept glorious failure as an inherent, unavoidable part of the Scottish culture.
Victory by 20 points for England on Saturday is my prediction - but then I'm not that great with forecasts as I only backed Holland to win 5-0 last night...

Which bunch of supporters do you suppose the Portuguese would rather be hosting next summer? :)

Admittedly the Scots - they would only have to put up with them until the end of the first round.

If there was to be any battling, they would rather have the Scots there as they know they would 'av 'em a lot more easily.
;) :D

An interesting article here that shows begrudging support for England from the Celtic nations (presumably because they'll get some kind of reflected glory from it for being from the same hemisphere...).

Still shows the Scots appalling attitude with one of em admitting she was 'rooting for France' and complaining about the English media "grating on the nerves of Scots when they're basking in success". If the Scots had any success to bask in I'm sure their media would be exactly the same.

I think the vast majority in Scotland will be shouting for England
to win.
It's when it comes to football that the trouble starts.
I think this is due to the fact that the media keep on harping back to 1966.
Any excuse and there it is on the telly again.
If the TV people lost the tapes it would go a long way to improve things.
As for the 6-0 score did anyone expect Scotland to win.
