Prepared, how? Is your hipflask empty already? Of course, you need to book the curry house for afterwards! Or maybe you need to get your knitting needles out to quickly run up another set of knitted bathers? Or does it take a while to get the bathing machine from your place to the Aquadrome?
I'm going, and I'm proud to announce that ruthcp will be competing in her first ever Masters meet. Small beginnings (only one race of one length) but who knows where she'll end up?
(Yeah, I know the answer - at the other end of the pool!) :D
Don't take this the wrong way GF but you do get around a bit. You seem to be at all the competitions....

...even the kids' ones! Yeah, I know. It's all in pursuit of that elusive "not last" I've been after for a while. And looking at KatieBun's time, I might possibly even achieve it on the 50 back! :p

See GF, I'm not the only one who thinks you're putting yourself about a bit! For your information, me dear, my new knitted one piece is MUCH better than a fastskin. I tried throwing one in the pool, as they claimed it was really fast, but it just filled up with water and sank. What's the point of that?

Thank you swimmer. I'm sure our paths will cross one day!
Yep - I and the rest of the Beavers are going.
Everyone knows that 25m free is the only true test of swimming talent and I have a title to defend.
(I want my record back too)
See you there . . . .

Ooops! Got up late this morning, following breakfast in bed (pancakes with chocolate spread, cream and ice-cream, prepared by littlest off-spring) and forgot what time I was supposed to be there.
Just packing my bag to limp off to the afternoon session and probably an ear-bashing from KatieBun.:speechles

I would hope it is more than 10 strokes, unless we're talking breaststroke or butterfly!

What an excellent day. Huge vote of thanks to Chris, Sue, Mike and all officials.Once again, a brilliantly run, smooth and friendly meet. Times will go up on our website, www.bdasc.org by the end of the evening, (Mike being his usual super-efficient self.)
Well, GF, you didn't get quite the earbashing you expected. At least you were a good girl and turned up for this afternoon! I hope you and Ruth enjoy your wooden spoon. ;) ;)

Very nice wooden spoon KB, but quite disgusted with your 50 back - where did you get that FIVE SECOND PB from then, eh?
Also very nice to meet Ivor Skrewkyk from Barnet (top club again) though you're going to have to do something about that beard, it soaked up so much of the pool there was hardly any water left for the rest of us to swim in!
Ditto for the thanks to the organisers - if I'd known you'd posted my morning card for me this morning I would have come along earlier. Ah well, on to September's Basingstoke meet and we'll see if Barnet can be knocked off their throne.
KB, care to share your story of near embarrassment before your backstroke race?

OK,OK, I know you'll tell everyone if I don't. I walked out of the ladies with the loo roll tucked in my swimsuit. Luckily, I stopped to check my suit straps in the mirror, so I removed the offending article before I pulled an "Andrex Puppy" down the poolside. :p :p :p GF, I hate you, you're a bag! :banghead::settee: (hides head in mortification.)

Well OK, Chris, I confess I'd left the home page open from this morning, so it didn't have a chance to refresh. (Time to scourge myself with an Andrex Puppy to atone for the misdeed!)

I know, but it was VERY funny! And for those of you who didn't catch what she first posted, I'm not telling. You'll just have to come onto the board a bit more often so you can catch the occasional 'Ooops'.
:D
And have you got a 'thing' about Andrex puppies then? You seem to be giving them a bit of a hard time today!

The number plate was done for a bet, but I'm quite fond of it now! No, we don't get wooden spoons, but GF has given me an idea!
By the way, swimmer, many thanks for the appreciation of the 5 second PB, but it's still slow.....lots of work to do on that one. (It was my first competition backstroke tumbleturn. I actually slowed down because I was apprehensive!) :joker:
I and the rest of the Beavers were indeed there - and had the pleasure of meeting GF.
Barnet Copthall emerged victorious once again, which is just as well as our coach had accidentally left the trophy at home(!).
Next up Manchester . . . . .
