At the risk of being called a cynic, I reckon they'd be more likely to target track & field athletes than swimmers...

Ithink This A Case Of Scare Mongering. It Has Not Been In The British News At All That I Have Read, Seen Or Heard. I Really Don't Think That The British Team Would Consider Withdrawing.

Any particular reason that I am missing for the capitals? Or did you just feel like it? :)

I heard a report on Australian radio recently that said their special services were working very closely with the Greek authorities to provide security for their team, and I'm sure the US and the 51st state will be involved on the same level. It's a worry, but I suppose so is any flight/major city etc these days.

Then again, the swimmers might fry anyway - the plan to roof the pool has been abandoned. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics_2004/3552537.stm

I don't understand that. They've stopped work because it wouldn't be finished in time, yet they still have 5 months!

Katie I was in Caps lock and could'nt be bothered to start again. Obviously the forum software presented like that. Nothing more!

Will the fact that the roof be missing present a reason for counties pulling out of the aquatics? http://www.newsnow.co.uk/cgi/NGoto/53752411?-11868

I assume that they considered that 5 months wasn't enough.

Didn't want to start something they couldn't finish.

Same story was on BBC news: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics_2004/3525162.stm

As for the roof, I guess a partly finished roof would be a) of little use and b) probably dangerous. Anyway, if they move the events to later in the day, then I won't have to get up at 4am to watch it!
