Looks like Fozzie is not taking part now. I figure if he had gone and swum inside the qualifying time, Bill might have relented and added Fozzie to the team for Athens

there are some non olympic people in there, so I would have thought foster would be the first one there to try and swim spectacuarly and have more ammo therefore for his case. I don't think Janine Belton will be swimming?? hasn't she retired after not making the olympic team?

Yes I thought the Olympic Team went to the French Nationals, if so where are (to name a few): Todd Cooper, Karen Lee, Kirsty Balfour, David Carry etc..????

I reckon those are the ones they expected to make the team... for instance I know Joanne Jackson knew she was going before the trials had taken place. There are quite a few people missing you're right Mad4it, Simon Burnett, Matt Kidd, Caitlin McClatchey as well.

Yes but those guys train in the USA (Burnett and Kidd) and probably had to go back. Having said that Georgina Lee is swimming, so there we go!
We seem to have taken over the womens freestyle and mens breaststroke events!!

There is a slightly different list on the ASA site @ http://www.britishswimming.org/vsite/vcontent/content/transnews/0,10869,5026-142701-19728-28474-124162-8843-5014-layout73-159917-news-item,00.html which I think is slightly more upto date.

Interesting, so basically it is the Olympic squad.
Does this mean those not selected are not allowed to attend (maybe unless they fott the bill themselves)?
What about the surprise selections who were not entered? Maybe there is some kind of flexibility negotiated with the French organisers?

I honestly don't think there's time for them to go back. The Olympic programme (I don't know if it's on the web somewhere, I saw it in the trials programme and I can put it up later if anyone wants to see it) means that they're pretty much busy between now and the British short course. There are a couple of 3 week breaks, but I don't know whether they will choose to return to America for these or not.

Several medals so far including the womens 100 free relay winning in 3.42.02 which according to the FINA rankings is the fastest time this year. Lets hope they have time together and keep on improving.

Anyone got any idea why the Men's 4x100m freestyle relay were DQd? Or for that matter why Simon Burnett is not there if the other US contingent are?

(ASA) The Men’s 4x100m Freestyle team of Matt Kidd, Gavin Meadows, Todd Cooper and Ed Sinclair looked strong from the off and just finished behind winners Clichy 92 but were later disqualified for an illegal take over.

Simon broke his wrist 6 weeks before trials so perhaps his preparations will look a bit different to the rest of the team for the next few weeks?

Anyway, back to the French Nationals. I found this picture on the site which is sooo funny! It was Gregor Tait's 25th bday yesterday, so pretty good that he won. It looks like his nose is on fire though!! OK I can't work out how to attach the picture so instead... if you want to see a picture of Gregor Tait with his nose on fire go here (http://www.liveffn.com/dunkerque_2004/index.php?go=results&day=20) and then click on the podium next to 100 dos messieurs!!
I was just having a little look around the podium pics... is there a single one where everyone (or even anyone!) is looking at the camera?!?! :p
