Very impressive performance by Alison in the 50m free in Sheffield.
The class of the field by a street.

Chris, Thanks for the message about Alison. Alison trains way above any other swimmer I have ever coached, she will slowly and surely reach the world record in a methodical way. Hopefully no big Chinese 'surprises' along the way to push the record farther away.

Read your chat in the Swimming times, at least someone in Scotland knows how to train a sprinter. Congrats to Alison on the new Commonwealth games record. Where are you coaching just now? Co Glasgow?

Any chance of a more in depth look at Alison`s training plan to dispel the myth that sprinters don`t work hard? And to draw the distinction between lower volume work and apparent "laziness"? Sounds like Alison and Gary are getting it right, but are they the only ones? Do we all need a more radical and specific approach to our events? Tailor the training to the swimmer and their event rather than the swimmer to the pre-existing programme?

Maybe the Scots will find out lots more about Alison's training soon?????
Ladbrokes still have Gary as odds on favourite to get the City of Glasgow job.
Good job I put a fiver on him when he was 100/1!
