Help please.
I am looking for a reliable and reasonable web hosting service for a composite club.
Frontpage will be used to build the site, it would need to be able to have a forum and be able to hold an Access database that can be queried directly using forms. It would also need a password protected members only area.
What's the latest on such a provider and how much should I pay?
Thanks. :)

They host SwimClub (http://www.swimclub.co.uk), the Beau Sejour Barracudas S.C. (http://www.barracudas-sc.org.gg) site and also my personal homepage.

They are fantastic!!

P.S. If you do sign up with them, quote 'swimclub' as your referrer!!!!

As a matter of interest Chris, how much do you pay a year total costs?
You can pm me if you don't want to reveal it in public - I'm interested in looking into this for our swimming club!!

Lynn

I use www.123-web-hosting.co.uk for www.harlowpenguins.com

It costs £109.99 per year with the following service:

Service: UK domain name registration
100mb ultra fast Windows 2000 web space
Microsoft FrontPage Extensions Installed
Unlimited POP3 Email Accounts
Unlimited Email Forwarders
Secure Control Panel to administer your account
Pre-installed form mail script
24/7 FTP Access via Private FTP Account

I have never had to use their customer services except to ask why I could not get hold of any stats about who visits the site (it was an extra charge!!). I update the web site all the time and odd times and rarely have any problems. I am unaware of any downtime.

I believe someone else on this board also uses this hosting company but I cant remember who.

What was key for me was that the hosting company uses Frontpage extensions. This was the first time I set up a web site and I am a complete newbie. Dont underestimate how much you have to keep updating but I enjoy doing it knowing its another skill I may have picked up (you never know with regard to jobs!!)

Hope this helps

Steve

A second vote for 34sp who host my site too, and have been very efficient (I can't recall any times when their servers have been down).
They include traffic analysis software for free which I find useful, and their forums.
Not bad for £15 per year!

Hi y'all. Using 34sp for a new site but I can't work out how to create a password protected area. Any ideas - says it doesn't support asps and don't know what else to try.

Hi lynn what software are you using?
In FP2003 you can convert a folder within your web into a sub-web, that can then be protected.
