CP is a palace fit for :king: 's. it might be a bit old but it's such a great pool. The diving pit for warming up or down, the huge spectator area and the underwater viewing area, great for both stroke analysis and spotting Fit people :love: .Also you get the odd pigeon in the roof which is around 13 metres high due to the diving boards (10metres and very scary to jump off) It is my long course home pool and i love it, as well as getting to train there for a 2hr session a week!! PF is all nice and modern but CP is a classic and if the rumours are right Mayor Livingston might actually do it up and keep his word for once! and to think they came within 2 days of shutting it down.

Unlikely. The most likely outcome is that Crystal Palace will close and be replaced with a 25m pool. The only real chance of keeping a 50m pool at Crystal Palace is if we win the Olympic bid.

Are you mad? The walls are green and slimey, the blocks are shallow (I can fit my size 15 feet on them), the lighting is poor, the atmosphere is non-existant, and if theres another event on, you can barly hear the starters orders.And thats before you even touch on getting there, and the changing rooms

It was definately a substance applied to the wooden structure of the seating which gave it a shine, and one may assume was designed to preserve it. In addition the stains which it rendered were the colour of tea.
so, eh, yeah!
nothing wrong with my cooking, bangers and mash all the way.
Rock.

Just read in this mornings paper that the go ahead for the refurbishment (pull down) of Crystal Palace National Sports Centre has been aproved.
Work is to start like next week!!!
A new 10 lane 50m pool will be built next to the running track with an additional 8 lane 25m pool and a diving pit.
Never heard of the company that is doing it, Lipra Loof Industries, fortunately it is not Multiplex.
Time scales have been indicated for a completion date this time next year April 1st.
No breath to be held.
Spidey.

Slightly "off-topic", but i used to work at Crystal Palace Children's Zoo as a holiday job; and loved walking round the park and looking at the dinosaurs;
went to concerts in the bowl and saw people like Elton John before he got really famous: this is going back a few years: 1967-1971 time! Can remember being pecked by the vultures and moody parrots, and kicked by ponies who didn't want to do "pony rides", but can't remember if I swam as well.

I was told CP was a listed building, does that not restrict how much of the building they can change??
Yes the mad-house is classic!!
