Just got a copy of the draft programme for the forthcoming Scottish Nationals. Once again there are numerous mistakes and errors in it at this stage but it looks like quite a big entry in most events and not too many rejections. Whoever, came up with the programme and qualifying / consideration times did a good job as on first impressions it seems to be just about right!
;) :cheers::angel:

Any hints as to whether the 16-18yrs girls is full? I was very close to all the qualifying times and well under the consideration times... :king: :)

Yes I saw it last night but I'm not sure I believed it. It is certainly full - very full - perhaps too full!

I don't know, the open doesn't look too busy, and the age group isnt't really either (well maybe with the exception of 13 and 14).
It's just because its all merged together it appears very full!
Although it's great there aren't too many O/Subscriptions this year, a great job by whoever set the Qual/Cons times. :)
Can NQTs be achieved at this meet?

This IS the Nationals, so how can you obtain national qualifying times? If you're thinking about English NQTs, then unfortunately the answer is no, as the last date for NQTs for the English Nationals in July/August was 31st May.

I think the last date you can qualify for the BAGCAT and Youth Nationals is actually the 20th June (not the 31st May) but either way, as GF says, it will still be too late to qualify.

However I think for Scottish swimmers it can be used, not sure but the closing date for ASAs is 30 June, and the meet starts on 29th. And as we don't have "designated" meets in Scotland, could you not obtain times in the first day?

The closing date was to be the 20th June but in the end got changed to 30th for District BAGCAT, Youth and Scottish / Welsh Nationals. For open meets it was 31st May. The Scottish Nationals start on the 29th June not the 28th. Technically it is possible to qualify on the 29th, fill in your form and drive to Loughborough with it and hand it in the next day.

Well the Programme (www.swimscotland.org.uk) is now up on the website, looks good, hopefully some super fast swimming to come, some suspicious additional entries added on after the last two drafts, namely the olympians!
Will we be seeing any swimclub southerners?!? :D

This year the cut off date was 30th May with the exception of Southern Counties only.

Until recently, I didn't know 'southerners' could enter!
Maybe next year though!

Anyone can enter the Scottish National Open & Age Group Championships, provided they are registered swimmers, this year there are some from Dubai even. :D
We will be seeing you next year then ruth? ;)

Well, not in a swimming capacity you understand! :p
Sounds interesting though - certainly worth considering. :)

Not quite so - Welsh nationals were the weekend after Easter this year. There was a good open meet at Swansea last weekend - two of our swimmers made what would have been their first ever NQTs if the deadline had been end-June.
What was the rationale for moving it a month forward?

Well thats me back from Tollcross, a very up-and-down week but good overall I think. :)
I started off well, qualified for the 16-18 200 IM final [in 10th] and improved my heat PB by 2 seconds to move me up to 8th place. :) The 400free in the afternoon of day1 was ok, just over my pb but a good race, and I won my heat! And the 100bc I did a 1 second PB there too. :)
Day2 I just had my 16-18 200fly, I qualified for the final in 9th in a new best time of 2.34.29 however went out way too fast and tied up at around 175m. The final I moved up places from 9th to 8th but couldn't improve on my heat time and went 2.36.10 still faster than my PB from before the championships. I don't no what it is about my 200fly but i get so nervous before it, no other race is half as bad!
Day3 the 100fly heats were slow and at 1.12.30 I was two seconds outside my PB and pretty disappointed. 800free was next, a slow 10.03 some 10 seconds over my LC PB and 35 seconds over my SC PB, however a pretty well paced race just a tad too slow!
Day4 was mixed, I had a great 200free race however my 200bc and open 200fly final were some what different. [I had bad stomach cramp all day...girlies you know how I felt] I managed to have some fighting spirit in my open 200fly final tho and went in 10th and came out 8th in a good battle with 15m to go, however well off pace in 2.37.
Day5 was much the same, I had the open 100fly & 800free and swam shockingly, 1.15 and 10.08 respectively and was then withdrawn from the 400IM in the afternoon. [Why does it ****** happen in the middle of the national championships we work our asses off for all year?!?!]
However I managed to finish off day6 with a new best time in the 50fly of 32.54 and compete in the 15/16 medley relay, going 31.8 for the fly, and the 15/16 freestyle relay going 29.2 and coming 7th and 4th.
A fairly decent meet, some great swimming in particular from Lorna Smith [Scottish Jnr Rec in 800free & 400IM], and some solid performances from Emma Harrison, Aileen Stirling, Hannah Miley and Robbie Renwick 1.53.87 for 200free just outside the SJR. :D :)

I've just got back from Glasgow. It was an excellent meet. A good programme ;), well organised and the scoreboard did not break down once! Swimming highlights included Ian Edmond's 2:12 in the 200 breast (splits 1:05 - 1:07), Alison Sheppard's 50 free time of 25.1, Mark Lewis's 1:59 fly, Lorna Smith's Scottish Junior records and Robbie Renwick's 1:53.8 (this was a Scottish Junior and a British Age Group record I think) and 4:00.6.
The final top club points scores were:
1 - City of Aberdeen - 799
2 - Warrender - 742.5
3 - City of Glasgow - 684
4 - Ren96 - 674
5 - Tayside District - 617
6 - South Aberdeenshire - 615.5
7 - West Lothian - 448
8 - City of Newcastle - 354
9 - Heart of Midlothian - 338.5
10 - Stirling - 285.5

there was a slightly dubious result posted in the mens 50 free as i recall! this was initially given the thumbs up by the referee, however an eagle eyed meet organiser revised this prior to presentations.
well done all.
ROCK.

Just looked through the results - well done to all of you! Was missing not being there, particularly to catch up on all the gossip. Here's to seeing you all at Sheffield next month. Train hard until then...... (but not too hard...!).....
