A member of my club has been wondering if there are any places online where she can buy a particular Nike costume. Do you know the ones that do up by the clip at the back? If you know any places where these can be purchased - any feedback would be welcome :)

Is it Nike or Maru? Just a thought, as the Maru Skooba designs have a clip at the back. Available online at www.allensswimwear.co.uk

Thanks for the reply Katie ;) But it's a different type of clip at the back. With the Nike costumes you pull the top of the costume over your head and then there is a clip at the back, sort of like a grasp clip, they type you get on some rucksacks. I couldn't find them on Allens.

Natasha: I would not reccommend the costumes you're thinking of. I think you can get them from mailsports, but my friend was wearing one before her 400 IM at the nationals and the clip just wasn't secure enough. A couple of times it pinged apart, and she had to rush to change her costume just before the race!

NICE, almost living out the swimmer's worst nightmare then. Getting to the blocks taking your clothes off and whooops you don't have any bathers on.

Never happened to me but you have to laugh at people who end up on the blocks in their underwear

Katie - the swimmer from my club isn't a competitive swimmer - let's just say she's gone past her competitive era! She has got one of the costumes already - she got it from TK Maxx, and she really liked it so she wants another one doesn't know where to get one from. So does mailsports have a website or do you order a catalogue?

But thanks for telling me anyway - if I ever get one myself (unlikely) I won't wear it for a race!

hmmm... the mailsports website is http://www.mailsports.co.uk but I can't see the costume on there. I'll ask my friend tomorrow where she got hers.

I've got a nice Nike costume like you describe in black, I got it from TK Max as someone has already said. Can't say I've ever had any problems with the clip. Perhaps the costume was just too tight and the strain on the clip too great!!

I agree- although I haven't worn them myself, two of our club wore them to death and loved them. To my knowledge they never had any problems with the clips either, but I know it does happen, also with the Maru scooba back too.
They were in the swim shop catalogue a couple of years ago- the black one with the yellow stripy line thingy, so might be worth a phone call about old stock.
I got two for a major competitive swimmer also from TK Max at £5 per suit. One black, one blue.
Don't bother going to Niketown London- they don't stock swimming costumes, neither does Niektown New York or Chicago for that matter, at least not for girlies, but Chicago did have some really swish boys knee suits in some really wild colours!
