Does anyone know where I can source a wrist-only heart rate monitor?
It's harder for boys to use the ones with a chest strap, as they tend to come off!
The one we have seems to take ages to give read outs (I suspect it isn't actually designed to go underwater all the time), which makes it of limited use!
Thanks!

Ask FlyingBean, she's got one.

I have one... have just sent it back to the manufacturers actually! I didn't find it worked when my heartrate was higher during training, which wasn't very helpful. That was possibly a fault in that particular watch rather than a general fault though. I will let you know how it works when it comes back!

I've got a rebok one, which you're welcome to borrow to see if it's any better than the one you've got. Mio are also a brand that seems to be very dominant in the field. But there seem to be new products coming on the market all the time. Mine has two buttons that have to be pressed simultaneously, but I've now seen one that only has one button to press.
Let me know if you want to have a go.

We currently have to source some Heart Rate Monitors for our local swimming club. We have found the best place to get them from is a company called Sport Tek.
They only do one strapless Heart Rate Monitor and it is the HiTrax Tip Strapless Heart Rate Monitor and it costs £54.99.
You get your heart rate by placing two fingers on two sensors that give you a ECG accurate measurement. It’s also water resistant up to 50 M and they even give you a free replacement battery.

Do you know if these are ok to use in a 2 hour swim session? It means the hrm would be underwater for a lot of that time.

"Range: 40-200 beats per minute"
Would that be high enough for these very fit swimmers who train really, really hard on E3 sets? Surely their HR would go above that?

Depends on your max HR, mine is 193 so it'd be ok for me, but some of the others in my squad have MHRs up to about 220, so not so great for them!
