Ever have a crazy meet sceduale? I was competeing in Dublin yesterday - got up at 5.50am, had a warmup at 8.30am, then raced 100m B/S, 10min later 200m F/C, 10m later 50m Fly (as part of a relay), then after a brief intervel another warmup, then I raced 100m F/C, then 10min later 100m Fly, then 50m F/C (as part of a relay), then another brief intervel and short warmup and then 100m B/S final, 10min later 100m F/C final and finally 10min later 100m Fly final. I stumbled out of the pool afterwards - and literally could not stand at the end - somehow I managed to get a PB in the B/S, 2 bronze medals and quite good times in the 100m F/C, 200m F/C, and both relays - but I was completely dead at the end... oh and all I got to eat before the races was a bowl of cornflakes and a sandwich at the first interval. I got home at 9.30pm and - believe it or not did'nt go to bed till 12pm... so anyone else ever have a crazy meet?

Sorry, just had to point out the spelling, which is "schedules". :read: :joker:

Dublin seems to be the place for that sort of thing. A little while ago I had 12 races, doing all 50s, all 100s plus 200 free and a couple of relays, from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon. Tiring but fun and I had 7 pbs.

Was this a club gala kind of thing or an open meet? I was under the impression that for open meets where the swimmer chooses what they do a lot of our swimmers target what they enter (or sometimes even strategically withdraw) so they don't end up with crazy schedules like that. You must be pleased with yourself for doing pbs, but how much faster do you think you could have gone if you hadn't done so many?

It was'nt too serious of a gala, just a club meet... I had'nt anticipated making 3 finals and intially we were'nt going to do 2 relays... so thats 5 races I had'nt expected.

So well done for making the finals then, :) though you would still have done quite a few individual events in very quick succession even without them. With relays too, it sounds like it was a good meet for you.

Sounds like you are fit enough to be able to handle it. Sometimes when you are 'in the zone' as you appeared to be, you can achieve more than logic would tell you is possible.

My craziest schedule to date has to be Basingstoke masters with 9 individual events in one day ranging from 400 free down to 25 fly. Although it was utter madness and I probably would have swum better in some of the later races if I hadn't had the earlier races, I still managed to beat most of my pbs, and beat some of them twice.

The question is, will you attempt this kind of schedule again, now that you know you can???

Never again! I don't regreat it in the slightest - it was a wildly enjoyable day - but never again!
