View Full Version : A Study on Masters Swimmers
I was approached in the Lab today by one of the lecturers (A Reader in Human Physiology) at my uni (www.mmu.ac.uk/exspci) and he is conducting a study on Master swimmers. He wants very good swimmers, the older the better. He did not go into much depth about the study but I can get details.
Obviously names such as Jayne Asher come to mind, but what is the best way to get in contact with such swimmers. Which clubs will have the best older swimmer (60+)? Shall I approach them through the clubs or next weekend at Masters Nationals? Has anyone got any contacts?
Thanks x

The timing is brilliant as they should all be around Sheffield sometime this weekend - might not be a bad idea to have a number of letters printed off and just hand them out to the stars. Maybe you might be able to make an arrangement with the people handing out the medals but I can imagine you 'd have to make peace with one of the organisers first. There is supposed to be a Swimmers forum in amongst the swimming but this didnt happen last year I think I recall. If it does happen then I am sure some of the enthusiasts who try to set this up would be more than happy to help. Maybe someone like Ian Woollard of Barnet would be a good ally too. For what its worth I am neither old enough (debatable) nor good enough (no debate) so I don't count!
Good luck - see youse there!

Kaci, if Jane Asher isn't in Sheffield, contact John Eyre, (GSC) I'm sure he will have her details.

Jane swims with Kingston Royals, I'd probably be able to get the info to her via one of the officials whose e-mail address I happen to have.
Jeez with all of these connections GF I'm starting to think you maybe one of the more popular members of the site :king:

Nah, but like someone said in another thread, "she gets around a bit". :joker:
Try Spencer Swim Squad they are a masters only club based in South London with a huge age range of swimmers. They have a web site I think.

How has this been going, Kaci? You still looking for contacts? We have a gold medallist 60+ backstroker who'd probably help. Still getting lifetime pbs, he's forgotten he's 61 and not 16.
Well i have a metting with Joern on monday as he wants me to help him...oh i am in such demand. Then i will see how far he has got and if he needs anymore contacts. Will let you know.
If it really comes to it I spose i always have Chris to use!! He he he he
