My guys did very well and we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. Got some good race practice in against some tough talented opposition. Was very beneficial to race some different competitors to those they face more regularly back home.

Noticed some of the talented up and coming stars of COAST were on display. How did you rate their performances swimming genius?

Congrats to mad4it on her 100 fly swim! :)

I thought the likes of Tom Lyndsay's 50fc was excellent, adrian oneill's all round performance was brilliant, and his brothers 200, 400 and 1500 fc were all good too. Anyone else support this view?

A bit less north than Aberdeen, the same old competition against the same old people also produced some very noteworthy results at the East District Open. Perhaps most notable was a succesful attempt at the Scottish Junior Record for Louise Pate in the 100 Fly. She clocked up 1.03.52 to eclipse the 1.03.73 set back in the year of Louise's birth.

Pass on our congrats from everyone 'up north'. A great achievement for both swimmer and coach. :D :king:

:joker: Let me think now, when did the 2003 results get published? Oh yes they've still got the new flash on.

The West District Championships are just that - Championships for swimmers in the West District.

As lane4 said, it is refreshing to attend meets where there is the opportunity to swim against different competition than you regularly get at home (i.e. district championships)

Open meets are what you are looking for I think Mr Rock :p

I'm not looking for anything.
However unless i'm mistaken all district champs in scotland are open meets other than the interestingly titled "West District Open".

Yeah but swimmers from any District are eligible to take part in the East or North District Opens. Only the West 'close' their District 'Open' meet. This is to the detriment of all in Scotland in my opinion.

Alternatively you could join a West District club on 2nd claim and then compete at the Open Championships. ;)

Do Midland District have an Open Championships?

In fact your whole team could do that and really set the cat amongst the pigeons!

only a currently proposed alteration to the championship regulations would make this difficult. anyone who is a member of one west district and one non-west district club will have to apply in writing for permission to enter the meet.

Try stopping anyone who is a member (first or second claim) and see the legal wrath of denying the membership... exclusion of competitive rights would be hard to justify.
