So as things stand, at the moment GB has 10 guaranteed swimmers in individual events plus a few more likely from the U.S. based swimmers and the now famous stage 3 meet but how do we stand on the relay front?
I would say we should enter a mens 200 relay team based on the times we achieved in the final subject to meeting the criteria but I can't locate the qual times at all! Any thoughts people on whether 1) we should enter some or as many as poss and 2) do we have enough experience at senior level to compete in relays at the big meets?

I heard Si Burnett may not be doing Worlds and just focussing on the Commonwealths. If that's the case then our men's 4x200 is much weaker! I could be wrong about Si though and if so then we should definitely take the 4x200 men's. We should definitely take the women's 4x200 too and I think we will do.

It was a shame the way the announcer got his maths a bit wrong at the Trials and announced the women's team had made the time when they hadn't. I'm sure they'll make it at the Stage 3 meet though!

Was that the announcer who posts on these forums?
Um... I think the announcer's name is "David Fletcher" but, for the record, I am not he! (In fact, I believe there are three of us involved in British Swimming)
Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.

Argh! You gave me a shock for a minute there - I thought it might have been you! Actually I thought (before someone else told me he'd got it wrong) he'd worked it out incredibly quickly! Although it was a shame as Julia Beckett, for instance, was clearly thrilled.

Looks like it was not just the announcer who got it wrong...

DAK the times are in the selection policy:
www.sportcentric.com/vmgmt/vfilemgmt/page/filedownload/1,8202,5026-49221-83704-0-file,00.pdf
The 4x200m times are 7.59.11 and 7.13.33 with 0.5 seconds per swimmer for takeovers (ie 1.5 seconds). So the men need to AVERAGE 1.48.7 and the women 2.00.1.

Cheers Bazza. I was just pointing out that the article I linked to stated that the girls had made the qualifying time for the 4x200. It appears (like the announcer) to be wrong, unless I am missing something?

londoner it quite simple if you look on british swimming website the section criteria is on there as is for paralympic games commonwealth games olympic games european long & shorse course and world short course i think the policy is right to set hard times otherwise it no challege i had to retry though ill heatlh i had a heart attack ten weeks ago and just spend anthoner four day sin hosptial as safe bet for my own satfely went back with chest pains but i agree with bill sweeteham swimmers did take too long a break after olympics but can i say yes my ex swimming mates but they no S14 swimmers at the forcoming paralympic world cup www.paralympicworldcup.com (http://www.paralympicworldcup.com) but thats my presonal views as i think there so very good s14 swimmers around that missed out on a trip to atrhens & futhermore i think would have pick up medals if there had been events for them i was at trails in may & there were some excellent swimming by all

For those of you who don't speak the disability swimming language, S14 is the classification for a swimmer with a learning disability.

There is a Paralympic World Cup in May 2005, taking place in Manchester.
Will there be swimming too?
And is it open to all competitors?
