world championships -- australian trials review

With no Ian Thorpe at the Australian trials this year, Australian Swimming must have hoped that someone would stand up and make a story to keep up the profile of the event. They needn't have worried as their swimmers produced a cracker of a meet.

world championships -- australian trials -- ian pope interview

Inside knowledge is a wonderful thing so we again sought out Australian team coach Ian Pope to get his take on the events in Sydney and to find out how his swimmers' preparation had gone. I even asked him what he thought of high volume vs low volume/high intensity just for you all (he coaches two 50m freestylers who were both Olympic finallists last year in Brett Hawke and Michelle Engelsmann)

Excellent interview, Steve. Most informative.
He is a very interesting man to talk to. I can see why Tara likes him as a coach too.

That was really good reading, Steve. It's really interesting to read stuff from an Australian point of view as well!

It was good to see a flexible approach to the intensity/volume debate.
