Sooo they've kicked off and are pretty amazing as usual!! So far there've been 4 Australian Age Group records:

Ellese Zalewski in the 13 and under 100 free: 57.14 :aarrgghh:
Garth Kates in the 15 years 100 fly: 55.19
Bronte Barratt in the 16 years 200 free: 1.59.57!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Daniel Smith in the 13 and under 200 free: 1.57.66

Also amazing stuff from Kylie Palmer in the 100 and 200 fly (1.00.51 and 2.12.0 at 15 years old!). I'm sure there'll be loads more records to come. :)

I thought that Bronte Barratt's 1:59 was in the Boys 16U 200m Free, in which case I didnt really see anything that amazing (although its still very fast). I posted questioning the result, however after I posted I realised that it was infact the Girls 16U 200m Free and a Top 10 World Ranking performance, so I just edited my post.

I've always been enviable of countries that have a National Age Group Championships. Its probably just not feasible here in the US, but the Australian National Age Group Champs always seem to produce such amazing performances. I know that starting this summer we are reinstituting the Junior (18&Under) Championships, but it just isn't the same thing. I've always wanted to see our best Age Groupers go head to head

Assuming there aren't too many kids around called Bronte, a girl with that name was mentioned by Chelsea Warr in her talk at nationals last year about talent spotting as having shone in a public assessment for having perfect technique but coming from a small-town club not doing a big programme.

Yep - I've heard the same talk too, only more recently.

Another incredible swim was Boys 13 years 400 Free being won in 4:10. Two young lads from Hackett's club went 1-2.
