View Full Version : Website Frustration
Having volunteered to help promote my club's Open Meet by e-mailing club representitives. What a nightmare some club websites proved, to find what I needed; club e-mail contacts. Having said that there were some superb sites where navigating was very easy. Some sites had no way to contact a representitive of the club. Others has only postal addresses. Some had a contact form; a good idea but I needed to send an attachment (entry form).
I did find a number of sites far too fussy and full of Flash graphics which took ages to load. I really felt those sites which had simple layout worked best. I wonder what other people feel makes a good website.

Good contacts info is a must. Simple instructions on how to find the club/training times/locations, but most importantly to be able to sense that someone is keeping it up to date, ie news is new news!
Not sure that being entertaining is mandatory (for everyone!) but keeping abreast of news as provided by Barnet Masters will always ensure that things are kept in perspective...

I will be the first to admit that it's sometimes very difficult keeping the club website up-to-date (the last Barracudas news item was posted on 20 March.)
Our website is designed to keep people abreast of news and events within the Barracudas, rather than to attract new members so much.
However I shall make a point of making the contact details more obvious ;)
Aside from that, and the fact that you can't see the club/Island records, and the fact that I rarely upload meet results :p I'm quite happy with the site as a whole!!

I must update my club's website, when I get some time my excuse is it needs a complete revamp and I'm reluctant to add new stuff until I have time to redo everything.
On the email contact address front it might be surprising but there are some people who don't get spam. Using their email address on the web site would quickly fix this problem.
