Closing date for this event is Sat 27th August, not posted by that date, but to be with me by that date, entries after that date will be returned. Going on Hol a week later and do not want the hassle of dealing with late entry requests. :rainbow: Then you can have your lovely cards, except those who di not include a return envelope, club name or ASA number.

Well there we have it, 150 men and 107 Ladies have entered. I have sent the programme off to get the cards printed, if they are back before the 3rd Sep I will post them out then, else it will be after my return from Cornwall in the 11th. :rainbow:

To give an indication of about when you might like to know if someone may possibly want to think about swimming.

To give an indication of about when you might like to know if someone may possibly want to think about swimming.

To start a flurry of activity trying to find the chequebook, two envelopes (usually courtesy of ones employer) find a couple of stamps and then try to remember one's ASA reg.

Selection of what to swim is never a time-consuming task, but all the logistics of the same info - name address dob blah is a pain and thats why Ii suspect many people are sitting with form ready to go on the appointed day but never get round to sorting the logistics on time....unless its the Basingstoke Masters and you can do it in a flash.

I have to confess to not getting my form in on time, but Spidey will be relieved to know that he won't be receiving a late form and cheque accompanied by pleas to let me in as I don't think I can justify doing loads of competitions and no training.

Sorry to come in late on this one - are the masters champs at Crystal Palace still going ahead next year? Is this one just the short course one?

There will be no SCASA masters next year - in fact there will be no SCASA!

I believe London Region will be having a long course Masters champs at Crystal Palace. SE Region won't be holding a long course championships next year but will be encouraging people to enter the London championships.

Thank you. Of all the entries recived, half were in the last two days to the closing date, my poor fingers, and if anybody did expect them to continue typing after the closing date - well :rainbow: Next I will be getting - when are the cards being issued?

So (veering further off topic...) what does that mean for the closed Surrey Masters championships? Will it still exist next year, but exclude the clubs that have been moved into the London region, which would remove a large number of people who competed this year? Or would a future competition need to be open to all of the new South East region? All very confusing.....

Regional structures and competitive structures don't have to be the same. There is no reason why the existing SCWP&SA can't continue to offer championships in the same structure as currently exits, at least in the short term.

My understanding is that the new sub-regional body doesn't intend to hold closed Rural Surrey championships next year, so there is every possibility that the competition will continue as present.

I must confess I copied it, but have reduced the number of pictures it uses to 45 and changed the speed. It is an Adobe ImageReady thing. :rainbow:

Was this meet oversubscribed at all? A number of our swimmers have had their entries rejected, they possibly missed the deadline, I don't know. Just curious.

Hi all, there has been a delay with the cards for the mixed events, that is the 200m events, 400m Free and mixed relays. Those who are swimming just 50's and 100's, and who provided me with an invidiual envelope had their cards sent out on Thursday morning. The rest will be put in the post Saturday. Everybody is also being sent a map of where enfield is. :rainbow: :)  ;) :rainbow:

I was not saying anything of the sort, trying to be amusing about all the other entries that came in on the last day, hence tougne in cheek smiley. As if I could send out the cards after the event. Would cause a lot of grief.:rainbow:

Not true, my understanding is that the new county do intend to run county champs in line with the ethos of the new regions.

Looking at your sub heading do I take it that you are a spurs supporter or is the Latin quote coincidence.

If you are referring to the age group championships, then yes there is some considerable debate about how best to serve the competition needs of members in Surrey. However, I do not believe that the new sub-regional body is currently considering closed masters championships.

Well, that was that, managed two of the five events originally entered. Sorting cards in session one stopped my 400m Free. Opting to do the 200m Back stopped my 200m I/M. Getting changed and missing the event stopped my 100m Back. The 200m Back and 200m Free however were fruitfull. Pleased it is over, hope everyone that attended did have a good time, apart from the "sauna" effect around the poolside and lack of catering facilities, as for the journey home.... this message started so positively too.. :rainbow:

I had a great time too, although I decided to opt out of the final session in favour of getting back home in time for training.

Managed a 9 sec pb in the 200 IM, and tried another novelty event - 200 back - first time ever, and I hate to say it but I actually enjoyed it. However I was shocked to find that Spidey changed my time from 4:00.00 to 3:59.99, especially as my estimate was clearly very accurate as I ended up with 4:00.58 (you may have noticed that backstroke really isn't my stroke!!). Freestyle was shockingly bad, as seems to be the case recently

What is 0.01 between freinds, ask my fellow club member in the 200m Free, in the lane next to me as that is what seperated us at the end (to her advantage) before manual back up times were used. Not even 0.01 seprated the final heat of the final event in the final session of the final SCASA meet as it was a dead heat. So there fb.:p :rainbow: (I am up to £30 now, re fund raising thread.)
