Not sure where to post this, but as I'm sure a lot of Masters swimmers will be wearing fastskins at Sheffield, this seems like a good place to ask. I'm looking to get myself kitted out with an FS II for Sheffield, and the sizing info is so confusing. This is perhaps the most detailed link I've found:
http://www.swim-shop.com/sizing/speedo_suit_sizing.htm
Now, I have a 31" waist and 42" chest, so for a "bodyskin no arms", I guess the relevant table is "Men's Fastskin - Bodyskin & Kneeskin Sizing", which has M for 30 waist 39 chest, and L for 32 waist 41 chest. Following the theory that the last thing you want is it to be too big around the midsection, this made me think I should get an M.
But then lower down there is a section called "Men's Racing, Fitness & Rashguard Swimwear" and the sizes seem to be offset, so M is now 32 waist and 41 chest, and S is 30 waist 39 chest.
And then I want to get a jammer for non-freestyle races, and if I look at the table called "Men's Fastskin & Aquablade - Legskin & Jammer Sizing" it seems that the sizes are all two inches different to the actual size, so a 28 is for a 30 waist etc
So what I was wondering is, all those people who have fastskins / fastskin IIs, it would be really helpful if you could post your experience such as "I have a waist of x inches, and I have a fastskin size y, and it fits great", or "I tried such and such a size and it was a bit big" anything like that would be very useful.
I've searched for past threads on the subject and found a few but didn't find much in the way of definite info.

basically i'd say those sizings are worthy of being ignored....basically according to this chart I should be wearing a fastskin/aquablade recordbreaker costume of size 26/28 just because I wear normal costumes in a size 30. However my aquablade costume is a size 32!! I can't remember what size my fastskin kneesuit is but according to this chart I should be wearing a 27 or a 28....I dont think I am yet I find my suits fit me perfectly in the sizes I have got them. I just go by trying them on and if they don't fit go up or down a size as necessary.
Give Hilary a ring at Swimstop on 023 9226 4196 She should be able to advise you on sizing and if she doesn't have the suit you need will put you in the right direction. If she isn't in leave a message for her to give you a call back!:)

Just to really confuse things - the Speedo master catalogue has M as a chest size 40" and a waist of 81 cms (approx 31.8") and a L as Chest 42 and waist 82 cms (approx 32.2"). Sorry!!
As you're only based in Surrey could you get yourself down (or rather up) to either Selfridges or the Speedo shop in Covent Garden? Both these places stock FSII and Harrods might have some too.
I find there's really no alternative to just trying them on for size before you order them.
[There's nothing these shops love more than people just turning up, trying stuff on and then leaving without buying anything.]
I can't remember what size mine is but I do know the 'Long' refers to body length NOT leg length. Mind you all mine have been from the States so the sizing might be different.

Wow, I had no idea that Speedo store in Covent Garden existed, just googled a bit about it and it sounds great. They're even open quite late - I have to go to our London office later this week, so I'll pop in there after work. Thanks Ivor!

It is a very good shop, downstairs for the good attire and the changing rooms are cool - as in temperature. I got my fast skin from there and I mean Speedo not web outfit. :rainbow:
So NVF did you get your fastskin? and did it aid your performance in Sheffield?

I certainly did get my FS II - jammer size 30, and a "bodyskin no arms" size M. Both are tight on me, difficult to say if correctly so or not. A fellow competitor in the changing room gave the advice of putting a plastic bag over your foot to put the fastskin on, and that definitely helps enormously.
I wore the "bodyskin no arms" for the 1500 and 400 free at Sheffield. I did the 1500 26 seconds faster than my fastest training time, which I did in the week before the race wearing some aquablade hydroshorts which I ordered at the same time as the fastskins. That training time was 53 seconds faster than my previous best 1500 in training, I felt the aquablade shorts were helping quite a bit compared to my old trunks, but I feel the FS IIs are even better.
Wore the jammers for 200 breast, 200 back and 100 IM. Difficult to say how much it helped, have never raced 200 breast or back before. Did a big PB in the 100 IM, but that was way overdue anyway. My subjective impression is that the jammers provide most of the help, and you get diminishing returns as you cover more of the body. I might get some legskins as I wasn't mad keen on the feel of the body straps on my trapezius.

Well i see the do up to a size 30 which is what i wear normal (for fastskins i wear smaller) so i was just wondering what the sizes were like. Less hippy might be a prob!!! lol
let me know what there like - does she have a 'normal' fastskin? can you let me know if its very childlike, if you know what i mean.

vicki she has a 24 open back in an Adult which is now cutting into her so its too small (yes i know they have to be tight but not cutting off circulation lol)
she has a 25 zip back which she likes but she is quite long enough in the boddy for as the zip puckers ever so slightly but she has still swum some amazing pbs in it
she was given a 26 zip back which is were the more wommanly figure is needed its definately cut more to a womans shape too big in hip and chest area for now but something to grow into lol
i have ordered a 28" junior fastskin! as i was told these are size appropriate and so you should by your normal size and i know a 12 year old who couldnt get into the 30" and normall wears a 32 for training so is in a 26 adult one
should be here today will let you know !
