The NQT information document on the BritishSwimming website states, in the absence of fixed QTs in each age group,
"Swimmers may enter the Boys 800 free and the Girls 1500 free by submitting times achieved at Licenced Meets. In each case the fastest 30 swimmers will be accepted."
It is not clear whether only LC times will be accepted or whether SC times (or converted SC times) can count towards the "fastest 30" in each age group.
Many swimmers and parents are presently uncertain as to the position.
Does anyone know what British Swimming intend in this regard?
The "Rules" (as opposed to the current info/guidance) need to be issued as soon as is possible to resolve the uncertainty. Otherwise swimmers could target SC times only and argue that in the absence of clarification to the contrary, by the time it is too late to gain times at LC, they have been given the expectation that LC and SC times will rank with equal priority. (nonsense of course in my view but I can foresee a problem if not sorted out)
