Hi All,

Yet another campaign which needs our support. Re-opening Maldon Lake to swimmers after its closure on the so-called "advice" of the Health and Safety Gestapo.

C'mon everyone - lend your support. Even the competition boys! We're all water lovers and it's in all our interests to get the Nanny State and its "Health and Safety" freaks off our backs.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), an unelected, unacountable, commerical organisation without any statutory powers, has long been waging a so far successful campaign to get ALL open-water swimming banned. It's RoSPA that's behind most those "No Swimming" signs that deface virtually every bit of open water in England and Wales. (RoSPA and its friends have little influence in Scotland where a "right to swim" exists in virtually all open water)

The tide is now turning. Time to tell RoSPA together with the rest of the H&S Nazis, that we've had enough of their nonsense. If they want to do something useful, how about starting with the slaughter on our roads?

CAREFULL. If anyone at RoSPA is non-gentile you may be in trouble, just like "red" Ken.
Just have a go about the nanny state. Then only goats will take offence. Apologies to Mr Tumnus.

Ken Livingstone only got into trouble because he's Mayor of London and directly took on a hostile and influential newspaper which has been gunning for him. He was censured on the grounds of bringing his office into disrepute. I don't (at least to the best of my knowledge) have any such privilege of office.

Although a tree-hugging Green leftie, I'm a firm believer in free speech, and one of the most politically incorrect individuals you could ever meet. The reason the Nanny State flourishes is because people are too timid to call a spade, a spade. My comments regarding RoSPA come under the definition of "fair public comment". They have every opportunity to reply to criticism but they choose not to. They obviously regard us to be beneath contempt. Overgrown children playing around in dirty water, who should grow up, act our age and behave "safely and responsibly". Bleuuuuuurgh!!!

The Secretary (and founder) of RALSA, Yacov Lev, is full-blooded Israeli and has no qualms with me describing the H&S brigade as "Nazis" and "Gestapo". In fact I'm sure I've heard him describe them thus himself. I'd describe them in far stronger terms but this is a family forum and Webmaster Chris would soundly spank my Speedo-clad rump.:aarrgghh:

If RoSPA doesn't like being ridiculed by the open-water swimmers, tough. They've only got themselves to blame. A lot of people are having to put in large amounts of time and their own money undoing the damage caused by (taxpayer subsidised) RoSPA with its shrill anti-water diktat. Believe me. I'm involved in some of it.

Who do you think was behind a lot of the H&S nonsense that resulted in the closure of so many lidos? The removal of high diving boards? The closure of tidal pools? Etc.....etc...etc.

NB I've recently had an abcess on my arm. Looks as though much of the poison ended up in my typing finger. ;)
