The Guernsey swim team made up of:

Jon Le Noury
Ian Powell
Tom Hollingsworth
Ian Hubert
Jeremy Osborne
Gail Strobridge
Ben Lowndes

and Team Manager Alison Frankland

leave Guernsey for the sunny city of Melbourne at lunchtime today. They are flying to Gatwick and sometime today/tomorrow are popping to the new pool at Crawley for some long course training before flying out to Oz tomorrow night.

On behalf of all the Beau Sejour Barracudas (http://www.barracudas-sc.org.gg), all the residents of the tropical paradise that is Guernsey, and followers of small island swimming the World over, I want to wish my friends and training partners the very best of luck on the World stage!

We're all rooting for you, and will be staying up to catch a glimpse of you all on TV!!!

Whilst we're clearly not medal contenders, we've got our fingers crossed :fingers: for an outside chance of a final place in one of the 4x200 relays .....

I saw a feature about this team on the BBC the other day and was left wondering- do jersey also have a swimming team, or does the guernsey one include the whole of the channel islands?

P.s. Good luck to everyone swimming at the commenwealths :thumb:

Yes, Jersey has its own team for the Commonwealths. (In case you're interested: while Guernsey and Jersey are part of what is collectively known as the Channel Islands, they are separate jurisdictions each with its own government and laws.)

Good luck to Alison, Gail and the boys in Melbourne.:thumb:

Go team Guernsey! Going to be a great experience for baby Jez and Ian with it being their first commonwealths.

Think we should wish the Isle of Man Team luck aswell, especially Adam Jackson.

i am dead jealous of anyone going to Oz would like nothing more than to be someone where the weather is warm and my dissertation is far away!

All the best of luck to those competing! My roots are still over there!

I just saw your post when I was looking to see who was heading off to the games from Guernsey and thought I would see if you are who I think you might be???

Hope so.

Are you going to be around the traps?
When are your uni holls over that side?

You dont by chance have any email addresses of the old crew from Guernsey?
I'd love to catch up with as many people as I can during the short time im back!!!

Nice to make contact again!

hope all is well.
