According to the BBC website we will have coverage of heats from 2300-0130 and finals from 0800-1030.
That's for the first day anyway, but I would imagine most days will be the same.
Better set the video!

Sky+ will do a great job for that week! :)

As many people may be unaware of this, it's worth mentioning that a great way to make your own recordings of these things is with a device such as this:
http://www.nebula-electronics.com/information/info.asp?Code=0003
This device plugs into the USB port on your PC, and then you plug your tv aerial into it, and it records freeview broadcasts onto your PC's hard drive. The recorded data is an EXACT copy of the broadcast digital data, there is no loss of quality whatsover. Then it gets even better - our digital tv broadcasts are already basically in dvd format, so you can then use the recorded files to make dvds, so that when you play the dvds back, the quality is exactly the same as watching the original broadcast. The software needed to turn the files into a dvd is termed "dvd authoring software", googling for that will turn up lots of options for software to do the job.
You can also get similar devices to the Nebula one for doing exactly the same thing from a satellite dish rather than a tv aerial, though it will only work for unencrypted channels, which is fine for the Commonwealth Games, as they're on BBC. An example of a satellite device is this one:

Just thought I'd share this as you can't generally buy commercial DVDs of swimming competitions, so I thought people might like to know how they can make them for themselves.

I do like the BBC's predictions for whose going to win:

"Austalia's domination in pool continues on Day Two"!
Looking at the BBC's schedule (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/results_and_fixtures/calendar/4655448.stm) (which is quite complicated!), live coverage of the swimming on Wed 15 -> Thu 16 seems to be:
23:10 to 23:50 (Heats)
00:35 to 01:40 (Heats)
07:50 to 09:40 (Finals)There will then be highlights on interactive:
05:30 to 07:00 (Heats)
12:00 to 13:00 (Finals)
17:30 to 18:30 (Repeated Finals)The 23:00-01:30 is when the heats are taking place, not when they are being shown.
But then on 16/17 we get live heats on interactive (not freeview) plus split with Hockey on BBC1. The finals will be live on BBC1 put shared with rugby.
Based on previous experience we are likely to only get short sections on the main TV channels but the interactive services should give better coverage - even if not live. Can you get Sky+ to record interactive streams?
Can you get Sky+ to record interactive streams?
I know you can do it for some of the Sky interactive streams such as Champions League however I am not sure you can do it for BBC. Will have a look tonight.

Yeah definately, I'm in Oz. We're having big screens in big public squares to go and watch the games with entertainment and stuff, that should be really nice. Will go to that, if I'm not at the event itself ;).

I think there's a highlights programme every evening on BBC Two - 169 hours of coverage of the Commonwealth Games in total and it is on pretty much all day and night for the next two week. I'm sure BBC Sport will do the same excellent job that they always do with the big sporting events.
