I believe the new long course pool in Stirling (SASA's new headquarters) opens for swimming on 7th January. Can anyone confirm for sure? And was the rumour that it has been accidentally built slightly too short just someone trying to wind people up or does it have some weight?

The pool is now open for sure as some of the SASA Elite Squad have been training in it this past week. I paid the pool a visit a few days ago and it looks pretty good. However, it seems a bit of a missed opportunity in only making it 6 lanes with very little spectator or poolside space. It is a national centre after all and not a public splash around pool. The land work area is also very small. On the other hand, it is long course and the more of them we have the better. I am certain it will significantly contribute to Scotland's continued rise up the swimming ladder. But to those of you from SASA who read this - please make it a damn site cheaper to hire! Even your own District Squads have to pay to use it!

Regarding the land work area - the plan is to close down the 25m pool and dedicate that whole area to weight training - machines and free weights as i understand - so although space is tight at the moment, it should all be ok in the end.
And yes please - affordable long course pool time would great!
