Our BBC commentators announced all the Negerian swimmers, that qualified for the semi's of the men's 50 breast as British. Obviously no one else noticed.
P.S.
Their flag is very similar to the St Georges Cross.

In summary, good swims by Darren Mew, Kate Hayward, Thomas Haffield, David Carry and Euan Dale.
Ian Powell makes the semi-finals in the 100m butterfly but is 17th in the 100m backstroke so misses out by one place.

Bizarre night at home. Went to bed at 2230, set alarm for 0030. (Working at 0800 today.) Immediate sound of hoovering downstairs - call down to ask daughter why, she says "why would I be hoovering?" In fact she's inflating blow-up mattress to camp in front of TV.
0030 Alarm goes off, athletics, no swimming, drift off.
0430 daughter, who has fallen asleep with TV on, wakes up at exactly the right moment, yells upstairs "Tom's race is on". Brilliant performance, watch second heat. Back to sleep, alarm goes off again at 0700. I think I'll be suffering later.

Brilliant is an under statement, it was absolutely awesome. I've never screamed at the tv so much as I have this week.:flash:
Lets hope there's still more to come:fingers:

Was amazing to see Simon Burnett win the 100M freestyle, the crowd was loud for England and Scotland today. On Aussie TV too they were touting the South Africans as the most formidable force, and when Simon won it they were surprised. And they aksed Thorpe if he was, and he said "well no I knew about Burnett", the presenters were like "why didn't you say so?" and he said back to them "well I have been saying so..."* . Very funny. *-Not exact quotes.

Absolutely awesome session of swimming last night, especially the 1-2 for Dave & Euan - its official, my flatmates think i've lost the plot as every night now I have been heard crazily shouting at my tv!!! My sleep pattern is well & truly wrecked though - and I hate how the heats weren't on till 1:35 and then they only decided to show half of them and the other lot at 4ish. I missed the second half and kept drifting in and out during the finals this morning. Students don't do early mornings and this is SO hard!
Great performance from Becky Cooke, thought Keri-Anne Payne might have been able to scrape a bronze but was just touched out by Brittany Reimer. Also good to see Gregor, Liam & Matt qualify through to the 100m Back final and Kirsty & Kerry into the 100m Breast too - got a text from Kerry after the heat swim yesterday, I noticed Leisel Jones had said something to her, "leisel said well done to me!"
and then continued..
"she is lovely, good laugh! scotland team are all high! the atmosphere is absolutely unbelieveable here! xx"
It was so nice to see she's enjoying it and no longer worrying so much, it'll be great to see all her photos and hear all the stories when she gets back!!
Also how good was the 100m Freestyle!!! Simon Burnett did so well. Gotta be honest I tipped Ryk to win or that if Simon won he'd be a very close second, but for Simon to win by half a bodylength was unbelieveable!
And go Todd for the 100m Butterfly tomorrow night, Matt Bowe also through.
:D :D I loved the commentators comment - if Scotland & England were allowed to joined forces here we'd be beating the Australians in the pool by 10 golds to 9!
