Just saw his time and checked it against the athens times
he would have come 4th in the athens final, coming behind ian thorpe by 0.01!! of a second
this is quite mad as he has improved so much. and come the olympics he probably will have improved even more.
it was a shame schoemann and others took it slowly as he blatantly wasnt trying (he swam 49. something and in athens he went 48.17) and it was a high 49 :(

Schoemans been ill, and he is 'very tired' and 'looking foward to the end of the season'. Probably a bit of both

How could you possible know he "wasn't trying"- has he told you that?

Neither of the South Africans have looked to be in top form this week. For someone like Schoeman, capable of a 21.69 swim, to go out in 23.21 would suggest he's ill or took it easy. Of everyone in the field, Roland is not one you'd expect to be able to take it out easy and come home hard :)
Great swim by Burnett though!!! Out in 23.5 and SO close to a sub-25 split on the way home!! Very exciting race!

I've been watching the games from a bit of a distance so far this week (i'm Irish and was engrossed in the rugby yesterday!)... but i'm beginning to take notice. Burnette's time is absolutely fantastic and indeed the medal tally of 13 for England so far is excellent; it's kinda of nice to see the Aussie Men so weak for a change ;) althought I do miss seeing Thorpe in the pool.
For me the I findit is Scotland who have really stunned me! What an unbelieveable medal haul already - 4 golds & 3 silvers! They've won as many medals so far as they won overall in Manchester! Dale and Carrys one two was great to watch in the 400m I.M.

48.57 is a new British record too, he broke his own previous one which stood at 48.68. Great swim.
