Seems Jo Fargus found herself in a spot of bother after the end of the swimming:

Now far be it from me to belittle the problem of drink spiking (which is indeed very serious) but I would have thought that several months of abstinence in teh lead up to a competition followed by a night on the sauce could also lead to someone feeling "dizzy and nauseous"

I remember hearing on Australian radio a few months ago about a survey into drink-spiking (I think it was at a hospital in Perth) which indicated the problem was vastly overstated and it was usually a matter of people drinking more than they realized, eg by not realizing the strength of cocktails.
Not belittling it as an issue when it does occur or commenting on this case, I hasten to add.
I have been the worse for wear after a Macdonalds burger meal once or twice - it helps take the taste away if you drink the top couple of inches of coke and replace it wih rum...

Just out of interest, is it possible Jo could have faced a drugs test after this alleged incident?

Yes, according to the original report, she had to report it to the police in case a banned substance turned up in subsequent doping tests.

Well I believe she is a member of this forum, so theoretically could do so if she felt it necessary.

To pandicus - If everyone who felt a bit woosy after a drink were to have a trash mag spread there would not be a tree left on earth. She either is desperate to be a celeb or thinks she is already.
But why her PR people are working hard to diffuse the story is there is a current coronial inquest here that details a suspected date-rape overdose. The details ae not pretty -about lying comatose in a pool of faeces etc -
So if she claims to 'could have died ' thats the visionin peoples heads. ughhh.

To be fair, I'd probably want to put the whole sorry incident behind me.
If there was actually proof of a drink-spiking incident then I commend her efforts to publicise it and make people more aware of the dangers. If she just drank too much ......
