This came across my desk today, new Olympic size pool after years of being on the backburner now seems to be reality.

Not quite an Olympic pool.

The basic spec is:
a 50-metre, eight-lane pool with moveable floor, 20-metre, four-lane teaching pool and seating for 400.

It is nevertheless a welcome addition to the 50m pool stock in the North.

We urgently need one of these in Aberdeen - nearest 50m pool is over 100 miles away.

Interesting to know the cost and the timescale to completion.

Interesting to know the cost and the timescale to completion. And the further North you go the further away you get, and there's an awful lot up there.

I'd question that you "need" one but of course you do 'want' one, and I'm sure you won't have to wait too long now.

I hope that you are right that we don't have to wait too long. :fingers:

I feel that if the North East of Scotland is to produce swimmers such as David Carry, Robbie Renwick, Kerry Buchan and Hannah Miley and keep them training and being coached in the area then we do need a 50m pool.

Just returned from the Scottish National Age Groups and so many of our younger swimmers struggled in the 50m pool.
