Dear All,
On the 16th March 2006 the first ever Lido Conference took place in Farringdon, London; over 90 delegates attended and the event got national coverage in the Telegraph, Observer and the BBC News On-Line site; a report of the proceedings is now available on the Played in Britain website and a delegation led by Janet Smith (author of Liquid Assets) will go to the Dept of Culture, Media and Sport at 10.30am on Wed 10th May, to hand in a copy of the proceedings; please go along if you can.
Sport England are still not recognizing outdoor swimming as a valid physical activity worthy of funding so political action of this kind is essential for the future of swimming in this country; details of where to meet are on the London Pools Campaign website, on the Broomhill one, and on the Played in Britain site: http://www.playedinbritain.co.uk/books/playedinbritain-.html
