Each month the Twentieth Century Society chooses a "Building of the Month" to feature on its homepage. The buildings are chosen from an international pool and e-mailed to all subscribers: Broomhill Pool (Ipswich) was February's, but August sees Brockwell Park Lido feted.

The project architect for Brockwell's refurbishment is Jo Edwards of PTEa and her text describes how one elevation of the lido will be taken down, moved outwards and then re-built! This means that outwardly the character of this listed building will be preserved, but inside there will be far more space for income-generating activities: yoga, dance, tai chi etc will all help to provide the funding that supports the swimming.

FUSION have secured a 25 year lease from Lambeth Council to run the "Brixton Beach" and the Heritage Lottery Fund have also given a grant for the forthcoming improvements.
