Roger Deakin, swimmer, broadcaster, author has died, aged 63. Obituaries in East Anglian Daily Times and Telegraph and I'm sure many others too. His best selling book "Waterlog: A Swimmer's Journey through Britain" celebrated his love of "ponds,pools,lakes,rivers" and of course his moat in Suffolk.
"When you swim you feel your body for what it is - mostly water - and it begins to move with the water around it. No wonder we feel such sympathy for beached whales: we are beached at birth ourselves."
Thank goodness for people like Pete, Yacov Lev of RALSA, the Outdoor Swimming Society, Oliver, Janet etc who fly the flag for swimmers, water and sky..... and of course Chris for this Open Water Forum! A good website is something to be valued.
