The Championships were split this year. The 14/15 and 16+ girls, and the 15/16 and 17+ boys were all competing at Beau Sejour in Guernsey.

The girls 13 and under and the boys 14 and under were all competing at Fort Regent in Jersey - at the same time!

Because of the split, the numbers competing in the Guernsey half were drastically reduced. We had up to six heats of girls (in events like the 50 free) and as a few as four or five boys (in events like the 400 IM).

The parents tend to watch the younger swimmers compete, so there were virtually no spectators for the whole weekend. This was not helped by the fact that the Beau Sejour Leisure Centre is currently undergoing very drastic re-furbishment, and there are no viewing facilities.

That said, the standard of swimming was pretty high.

There were a couple of male senior national QT's - Nathan Jegou of the Tigers (http://www.swim-fast.org) in the 1500 free and Ian Powell of the Barracudas (http://www.barracudas-sc.org.gg) in the 200 back. Both these swimmers were competing in the 15/16 age group. Gail Strobridge of the Barracudas (http://www.barracudas-sc.org.gg) dominated the girls competition.

Full results will follow shortly.
