My daughters have just swum at the Maxwell Gala at the brand new Aqua Vale pool in Aylesbury. The pool was fairly cold but fast, and the electronic timing was state of the art - reaction times off the block were shown - I've never seen this before. Catering was good, car parking was a bit of a nightmare though. On the whole a great facility.:)

Sounds good. One important thing though - was there any more space on poolside than the old pool Maxwell used? It used to be so cramped you could hardly move. Officials stumbling over bags as they pace the poolside an that sort of thing...

Which pool are you referring to - they used Stantonbury last year, but one of my daughters said it was like swimming in warm fudge.
Going back to Aqua Vale, there was a fair bit of room and the organisers let the swimmers use part of the spectator area. The officials had plenty of room to move around.
The pa system was a bit loud though! :music:

I don't know what the name of the pool was, but I went to the coresponding open meet in January 1998.

I'm afraid I can't help you there, 2001 was our first time at Maxwell Gala.

well my post has nothing to do with this pool... i live in indiana...in the united states, and i dont know anything about this pool! but i think the IUPUI Natatourium is the best pool. it is really fast, and the olympic trials have been held there many times. [COLOR=deeppink]

Bazz, could it have been at the Stoke Mandeville hospital site? They used to have meets there in the past. What I remember of it was the spectators balcony at the end of the pool with little room to watch. There was also a small outdoor you had to walk past to enter the building.

Linda, I presume the new Maxwell pool is 25m?

Reaction times are usually only measured at big meets like national/international standard.

Yes Bobby, you're right, it was the pool in Stoke Mandeville.

the pool is good, the things that could have been better is poolside space as the pool could have been used for the main counties but due to space on poolside this won't happen, also the two times i've swum there the timing has messed up and they had to go back to the old starting off the gun, which was kind of anoying as out of about 10 swims i have done there i have never got to see my reaction times!
