Many of you have noticed problems with the site recently, and I have the opportunity to move it to a new server.

But .... it'll mean you have to go without the site for 24 hours.

Can you cope?

It'll be better afterwards (I hope!)

Just warn us, so we know to take our tranquilisers and sleeping pills so perhaps we won't notice - otherwise we'll just fret!!! Look forward to improvement in accessibility.

This is not good news for a insomniac, I'll just have to lay awake waiting for your safe return, out of interest Chris, these problems do they include sometimes being unable to get on today's posts, I had a hell of a job a couple of days ago, figured it was the kids filling up the hard drive with downloads?

Nah, it was the rest of us spending ages reading all of the posts you've added! :D

(I can offer to share my supply of tranks, perhaps we can set up a support group for those suffering from swimclub withdrawal... :doctor: )

You mustn't keep talking to me GF as I feel it only polite to answer, which then means another message for you to read. Please don't answer this one as I will feel compelled to answer yours.

Yeh, the problems include not being able to load certain pages up .... the New Posts one being particularly obvious to lots of people.

Fine then.

I shall speak with my host and try and arrange a downtime.

I'd imagine that a weekend would be best - Sunday if your ISP can do it. Otherwise we'll all have to go cold turkey on a work day. Doesn't bear thinking about :aarrgghh:

Sorry Steve (and everyone else) .... today is judgement day!

5 minutes til I close the site for 24 hours (hopefully!) my friends.

I will shut the forums again with no further warning. There may be an extended period when you cannot even see a "The Site is closed for Maintenance" message.

Only been on a couple of minutes but first impression is that it is definitely faster. There were times on the previous server when it was so slow that I could not access posts at all.

OMG how traumatic was that. I hadn't seen the posts you were going to shut it down and I have actually had to do some work today :) I don't post a lot but I realise now I have to have my fix of swim club every day!!

This is no good, Chris, the site is far too fast now. I used to be able to visit swimclub and have minutes of diversion from work just waiting for it to load to see if there were any new posts, now I have to get back to work just a few seconds later!!! :D

That was hard. Phew, it's over. And seems to be working most excellently. :)

To avoid shocks, yesterday I took a vacation! :D
I think I have a bug: NotVeryFast now is NowI'mFast, and GettingFaster is GotFastest... Do you think it's normal? (do you think I'm normal?) :joker:
