Jack is in his late 70s now, haven't swam with him for about 15 years. His name still crops up in masters results. Anyone else heard of or know him?

I found these two snippets.

The Trail of the Lonesome Pine
1916-USA
This is Cecil B. DeMille at his most dressed-down. The Trail of the Lonesome Pine takes place in the Virginia mountains. Jack Hale (Thomas Meighan) is a revenue officer sent to track down some moonshiners. While on his hunt, he meets and falls in love with June Tolliver (Charlotte Walker), the daughter of the very people he's looking for.

Met him a few times. He swam in the 1948 Olympics (400 free) and swam at Crystal Palace not too long ago in the 75-79 age group.

Juicy - you have the right guy. Apparently Jack was credited with the development of the dolphin leg kick for fly. Remember seeing a copy of a 1950s swimming times with drawings of Jack on the front showing his revolutionary leg kick. However, over the years I have read that the russians and the americans were the developers of the kick! Anyone throw any light onto the subject?

I know Jack and his son Carl. I was always under the impression that Jack was the man as far as dolphin kick was concerned. Can I also say 'boo, rubbish' to Hull Olympic and 'hooray' to Hull Sealions and City of Hull!!

Pink - Hull Olympic was excellent I swam for them in the late 60s early 70s I left them to join Hull sealions and was with them for most of the 70s. City of Hull coach Keith is now my masters coach at the David Lloyd in Hull.

I joined Hull Olympic just before they merged with City of Hull to form KUHSC. Was weird swimming to start with coz people from each club seemed to assume i was from the 'opposition' and it took a while to make any friends. Think the city definitely benefitted from the two clubs joining, look at the relay teams they were able to form. The team of Timothy King, John Bates, Callum Morris and Ben Cocksworth springs to mind.
