Taken from www.britishswimming.org:
Due to a decision recently taken by the Great Britain Technical Swimming Committee we must advise that Team Events have been withdrawn from the British Long Course Championships/Commonwealth Trials to be held in Manchester 10th - 15th April.
Anyone know why?

No I don't know why but am certainly keen to find out the reason.

Apparently it is to allow swimmers to better prepare for trying to qualify for the Commonwealth Games in individual events! This is somewhat contradictory given that Bill keeps telling us that relays are extremely important and we should be practicing relay takeovers in every workout. The question must now be asked if relays will therefore be removed from all meets that have a selection element to them because the answer using this logic is surely yes!?
However, the rumour that British Swimming has asked for relays to be removed from the Commonwealth Games itself to give British swimmers more chance of medals in individual events at that meet is apparently not true. :D
Swimming should not be fun.
Come on! Relays! No swimmer likes relays!
How much would it take out of a swimmer to swim 50m or 100m extra?
Every swimmer gets fired up for relays!
Teams and spectators love relays! How many times have you gone home hoarse after relays!
Campaign for Relays!

We were going to use some of the relays as a development role for some of our juniors who are not fast enough yet to compete individually but will be come the next trials etc.
It would have given them experience of being in the next level of competition and also given them the chance to see our top swimmers compete in a trials environment, which sometimes can be more intense than the actual competiton that the trials are for!
Also, our Men's Medley Relay were really looking forward to it after beating Loughborough at the weekend at the BUSA's.

I'm not sure when they will be available on the net, there were hard copies available at the meet and a full set is sent out in the post to all universities and colleges in the post. I think that the results are sent for inclusion on the GB Rankings and will appear on the BUSA web page eventually.
There wasn't any amazing results that stood out but Chris Cook went 63.93 for 100 Br, Chris Cozens - 51.89 (100 F/c), Adam Whitehead 2.19.9 (200 Br) in comparison to what was swum the week before.
