Just read the Youth programme of events.
Surprised and disappointed that compared with the 2006 Championships there appears to have been a down-sizing/down-grading from the apparently successful 3 day event of 2006 (and of years previously) (which had heats, semis and finals in the shorter events) to a very basic 2 day only programme (same as the recently held NWASA Winter Championships) in which the heats of 16 individual events are squeezed into each morning session!!!!
The shortening of available recovery time compared with how the 2006 Championships were run will cause swimmers to limit their range of events entered which is a pity when the younger youths will not necessarily have determined their specialisation.
On checking the BS website the 2007 Event appears to have been licensed as a 3 day meet...must be good reason for the change...wonder why....anyone know please? Are other Regionals over 2 or 3 days? Is there a move towards consistency of approach across the Regions?
No explanation given in the official Meet Information doc!!!

On the eve of the Regionals I just again wondered whether any of the other Regions have downsized their Championships to just the 2 days and then whether all Regions have the same programme of events.
I think it makes sense for all Regions to adopt the same programme if only to ensure that all relay events (these being the only qualifying route to the National finals) are swum under the same conditions.

Southeast Youths are still three days, tomorrow, Sunday and bank holiday Monday.

I haven't heard or seen any explanation for NW Region running their event over 2 rather than 3 days although I do know that (perhaps) after the decision to reduce to 2 days the Bank Holiday Monday was touted to NW Region Masters as available for an Open Masters Event which might have been well and good for Masters in the Region and beyond, but the arrangements were cancelled even before they were started!!!.....
and then presumably it was too late to reinstate the 3rd day into a revised programme.... shame really:banghead:

Does anyone have a link to the North West Age roup Championships which started this weekend?
I've looked everywhere and can't find any site on the net which is carrying any details of the event.
Thanks.

Thanks EM, we were really pleased with the little lad last weekend. He managed a couple more NQTs in all, which is way more than we were hoping for.
He's one of the unfortunate younger ones in his age group so we were just hoping he'd get a couple of natonal times this year and get into the loop, but he's done better than we were expecting with six.
If I see you at the Midlands next week I'll be sure to come over and say  this time (I suffer from chronic shyness to tell you the truth!).
Thanks for the link. I'd already found that one but the site looks a bit negelected at the moment. I just wanted to see how a couple of swimmers did over the weekend.
Oh, and the new coach seems very good. She did her first full session this morning and I was quite impressed! :)

The NWASA Region website "continues to experience difficulties" and fails to deliver a customer friendly experience!!!!!!!!!!
But hey ho Lancashire County Association springs to the rescue as it did to present NWASA Region Youth results  .....(although some of the early results 50 free and 1500 free don't appear at the time of posting the link)
