I've just been looking at the entry forms for the Yorkshire Masters and also, the NEC masters (I'm assuming other masters events are the same). I've found, what I consider to be, a rather strange inconsistency.

There are team events for 120+ years, 160+, etc.
There is a team event for the 19-24 age group.
Why isn't there a team event that those in the 25-29 age group can enter.

Surely it would have been better to replace the 19-24 years age group with 80+ years.

Anyone care to explain (or even know) why it was done this way?

No idea I'm afraid Dave -- All I know is that at the Cambs County Masters, the format was exactly as you say, with the lowest relay age group being 120+. The number of swimmers is very small however, so it isn't normally a problem.

However at the Midland District and Southern Counties Masters, both have provision for these swimmers.

SC has 100+ age group, but does not allow 19-24 swimmers in the relays at all.

Midlands has 80+ and 100+ but again do not allow 20-24 swimmers in relays.

Sounds like NEC are a bit behind the times!
